The Lost Gardens of Heligan..

We visited these gardens on a beautiful sunny day during our tour along the south coast. I enjoyed our visit here much more than our time spent at the Eden Project. This is why…..

I would definitely like to go again when T’s had his knee sorted and we can walk much further.

Its over 10 years ago that we went to both heligan and eden project, we saw heligan when the rhododendrons were out......if you can , go back then we thought them incredible.....one huge one was broughtback by the victorian planthunters as a seed the size of a grain of sand.......incredible place
I'm with you Eden is interesting, Heligan is awesome ☺

Looks great. Reminds me a bit of the gardens on Tresco. Love the first pic of the ferns, & all the foliage is so lush & green. Must go one day.

Thank you for the pics - I wish we had taken an extra day to go there when we visited Eden some years ago. perhaps one day...

We didn't know about this lovely place when we went down years ago. I loved it. There were loads to entertain children, setting up tents in a mini wood, campfires, a wicker maze, trying out hammocks strung between trees, a rope bridge in the jungle, games on the lawns round the house, animals in compounds, lots and lots to do. I'd love to go again taking all the grandchildren. It sounds brilliant Pam, we must try and get down there then. There were only a few blue Rhododendrons out while we were there.

Yeah, I loved it too. I really enjoyed our little trip to Cornwall. I hope we go back again one day. I remember we went to see Bill Bailey at Eden in the evening...terrific fun, he is so talented and so funny!

I agree with you entirely, Hb, much prefered Heligan to Eden. When T,s knee is sorted, you must walk down the chine by the series of ponds, it is so exotic looking.

Heligan is beautiful. If in Wales try Bodnant that is rather special too.

Yes it is. When we went the fishpond had no fish in it - reason? Otters from the stream had climbed the hill for breakfast...

More my type of garden. if you could call it a garden, must visit it one day, when I get my knees sorted lol

We will go back one day hopefully. I left T on a seat while I nipped down a steep path into the gorge. It was magical. I'd left the camera with T so didn't get photos but wish I had gone back for it now. I only went as far as a queue that had formed to cross a rope bridge, thinking I'd been gone long enough. It's such a shame his knee is so bad, it spoiled the summer hols for him really, although he enjoyed what we could do.
I hope you can get your knees sorted soon Dd. T is booked in for his in November.
I haven't been to Bodnant Sg. It's a lot nearer for us than the south coast so maybe we can go there before T has the opp or in the spring. I will take a look online for it.
