Our visit to Herefordshire gardens..(4) Brobury House Gardens.

This was the garden I fell in love with.
As we had approached the gardens we crossed over the river Wye where there was a beach area where people could paddle and fish.

It seemed as we walked down the drive from the car park that it was a small estate with pretty workers cottages and workshops near to the main house. I asked a lady, who was coming out of one with a basket of linen, if she lived there and she said she came from the nearby village and the cottages were holiday lets.
We began our exploration from the front of the main house.

The borders were so attractive.

We walked down towards the river where we could see the Regency style vicarage where the Rev. Francis Kilvert, the well known Victorian diarist was incumbent and is now buried. Brobury House was built on the vegetable gardens of the vicarage in 1881. Isn’t it a pretty house?

From the bottom of the garden we could also see the bridge we had crossed on our way here and families enjoying the ‘beach’.

As we walked back towards the steps we had taken down from the house we found a beautiful crescent shaped pool with lots of waterlilies in flower.

We turned Rt and found the water gardens…

We turned towards the side of the house here…

…and saw this lovely silver birch stand.

Walking up towards the house the formal gardens were lovely too.

We decided to have a sit down for a while here and enjoy the sunshine and the lovely plants around us.

Through the gate and round to the left hand side of the house…

Then we came upon the greenhouses and had another sit down….lol. a nice touch with the flowers on the table, i thought.

I wish I had room for these in the motorhome. Bargain or what!!…

Back round to the front of the house and down to the watergardens again…

I really loved this place and I really want to visit again next year. I hope you like the gardens too. Thank you for looking with me.

Hi Sheila, very nice, how did you resist buying 1 of those Agave americana marginata's, at that price, for that size, I think at least 1 of them would have found it's way into my car :-):-) ,Derek.

Oh! Thank you everyone. I am so pleased you liked it as much as I did. The only thing missing was a tea shop/cafe but we had traveled there in the motorhome so we made our own lunch and a bit of tea when we got hungry. It was a super place to visit and the weather was perfect.

Wow what a marvelous journey you had exploring the houses of Hereford HB .. and beautiful photos I lived in Hereford for a year and have relatives there and have to admit I was to young at the time to think about looking round gardens ,that's something I must put right in the future ,the problem is when you visit relations there never seems to be any time left over for other things .. it will have to be a special journey one day ...:o))

I've loved every minute of our short tour Amy. I do hope you get chance to visit. I couldn't get over how much warmer it seemed in Herefordshire. Probably the protection from the surrounding hills. I'd like to go further along next time and slip into Wales again. We crossed into Wales by accident looking for the road to Hereford...lol
