A further look around the garden on the 11th of May.

It’s been rather windy and cold today but I had to go up to the greenhouse to water the plants. With camera tucked in my pocket, as usual, just in case I could see anything new flowering, I was pleased to see one or two plants starting to flower. I had to pick my moment to use the camera as the bitter wind kept blustering and rocking everything and besides that, I was trying not to shiver and shake the camera…..lol
Anyway here are a few of the less blurry I managed to get …. I won’t make any comments so it’s quicker for you to whizz through them.

I was out there a lot longer than I expected because quite a few plants and shrubs had erupted into flower. The gardens are coming to flower so quickly it’s getting hard to keep up…lol. It’s so refreshing to see new growth out there, I’m loving it. I hope you are enjoying your gardens now as much as I am. xx

Your garden's looking lovely Sheila, well done, can't wait for my perennials to start to mature, still trying to fill my borders up, Derek.

That's great Sl. I'm glad they are growing ok for you. Isn't it surprising how quickly the borders fill up once the weather improves.

It is amazing how quick plants respond..

Thanks Paul the Kerria give a lovely yellow colour to the borders. As I said to Sl. it's amazing how the borders fill up once the weather improves.
Thanks Derek, things are really jumping up now, I hope your borders will be bursting at the seems this summer and it won't be long now.

Yes, certainly not a day for taking pictures!!
You've plenty of colour and so many doing so well for you.
Even the foliage on your shrubs look incredibly good - a few shrubs are still shrugging of their winter look here!

a great display of colour,H.bird....your Acers are beautiful..and look how bushy your Bowles Mauve Erysimum is? Mine went so leggy,so I should have cut it back before it got to that stage..but I have a couple of cuttings..Is that a Euphorbia, under the pic of the yellow
Rhodi? lovely shape and it really stands out..you have such a beautiful garden,I love it all :o)

You are getting the raw wind more than we are I think Scottish. It's amazing how quickly everything catches up though. To think that 4 weeks ago there was hardly anything through the soil.
Irene your garden has improved so much in the past few weeks and with all the plants you have put in it's going to be a riot of colour come the summer.

What a lovely lot of colour - that rhododendron is fantastic. The Bowles Mauve really encouraged me as I just bought my first one and didn't realise they grew so bushy and beautiful. Isn't it amazing after the awful weather lately that all the flowers have braved it and come up smiling?

Thankyou Bloomer and Steragram for your lovely comments. Yes that's a Euphorbia polychroma my sister gave to me over 20yrs ago. It's been moved so many times its a wonder its not dizzy. The Rhodi was a cheapie from Aldi early in the year. I moved the Bowles mauve last October as it was overgrowing the path and my little Eve Price. I didn't really know if it would survive the move. Thankfully it has. It really is amazing me how fast things are growing. It's a great relief after the looooong winter. :o)))

Very nice, and I'm glad the wind didn't do any damage :o)

Hb the garden is a delight so much going on! Your Geums are early aren't they? Mind you the seasons are a bit crazy arent they? :)

You are so lucky to have that wonderful show of plants in your garden ! I'am saying lucky but i'am sure you have worked hard over the years to archived it :o)

All looking very nice..... you have lots of things in flower.

Thankyou for your lovely comments Hywel, Grandmage, Kidsgran and Hollyeves. I can't remember offhand when the Geums started flowering last year. I have had a lot of pleasure over the years from the garden and some lovely relatives, friends and acquaintances who have given or swapped me plants through the years. I have gradually divided a lot and spread them about too. The most I have ever paid for a plant was £12 for the Bottle brush bush which unfortunately turned its toes up this winter. Not a sign of growth on it . :o( never mind at least we had the pleasure of it for 2 years.

Thankyou Summer, but I wish it were as full of plants and flowers as yours is.....

12 May, 2013

mine isnt! its mainly full of weeds! I never think my garden looks nice, maybe im too critical of it, so its lovely that you think my garden is full of blooms, you've made my day:-)

Great pics as usual HB. You have a lot of colour out there at present, lovely, healthy looking plants. The Peony is a lovely peachy shade & I love the Bowles mauve too. It has been windy in Surrey too. Would love to plant out my Runner beans & Morning Glories but daren't risk it yet. Was rained off Sunday pm.

What is the gorgeous bushy plant in picture 18 please

16 May, 2013

Thankyou Ff. My runner beans are rampaging around the greenhouse still as it's been too windy to plant them out. It'll be too late soon, they are over 2ft long already.

It's a Euphorbia Polychroma Teddyg. So reliable but you have to be careful of the sap if you cut it as it's a strong irritant to a lot of people.
