24th March in my garden......

I had to go out and knock the snow off of some of the shrubs, Hebes and planters as I could see that the snow was weighing them down. I came back in for the camera to take a few snaps of the few plants that were flowering above the blanket of snow. This Ribes sanguineum is flowering well now although almost a month later than usual….

A bit further up the garden the dainty but, seemingly indestructible, miniature Daffodil Tete a tete are poking up through the snow…

Then round the corner above the composting area I spied this lovely Skimmia japonica with loads of heavy wet snow on top of it. I knocked off the snow and I’m glad I did because it’s showing signs of flowers to come soon.

coming back down the garden I noticed these lovely daffodils blooming…..They are Narcissus jonquilla.

..and there are even some flowers on the Aubrieta.

…..and this tough old Hellebore foetidus is flowering brilliantly.

There are signs of flowers to come on the Prunus lauroceracus otto Leuken.

Last but not least this little Acer is in leaf…..

I can’t even find the Primroses, snowdrops and Crocus as they are well hidden under the snow. Hopefully the snow will thaw soon and the garden can show a little more colour again. I hope you have a great deal more colour showing in your gardens than I have at the moment…….

Lovely garden, I'm very impressed by your ribes, it's much bigger than my new one which is only just flowering. My tete a tete daffs all got eaten, presumably by slugs, so haven't put on much of a display this year:(

Hope all your snow goes away very soon so you get all of your garden back!

Hi Sl, it was nice to see the daffs coming out at last. Hopefully no more snow now Paul. Just need a bit of sun to help it thaw faster. The daffs should be ok. I just worry about the branches getting broken on the shrubs and Hebe's.They look such a mess with gaping holes in them where the branches have broken off.
Thanks Louisa, nasty slugs moving about already? It was an awful year with them last year wasn't it. It's a shame about your Tete a Tete, fingers crossed that more will pop up for you soon.

Amazing, isn't it? And when the snow goes, it'll be a lovely Spring garden!

Your plants are in spring mode in spite of the snow lol. I hope it thaws soon. It doesn't seem real at this time of year does it.
We haven't got any snow here but it is bitterly cold - more like January or February really ....

Its sunny today so hopefully it will thaw quickly. Mind you it's very cold. It does feel more like January. I can't wait to see all the daffs and tulips out.

Just about all gone now Shirley. Just the odd clumps where it was deepest. The ground is still frozen though. I do hope it warms up a bit more soon.

According to the weather forecast I heard this morning, we could still be shivering halfway through April! Bitterly cold wind blowing down here, but at least the towels are drying quickly ... :o)

I put my sheets on the line yesterday and the wind wrapped them round the line so tight I had to get T to help me untie them...lol. My goodness it's so cold though. I had hot aches in my fingers when I came back in....

The forecasters are now saying it will be into double figures from the 14th. Mind you 10c isn't that warm....lol
