The quickest thaw I have ever seen...

There was at least 8 inches of snow all over last night at Midnight.

Then the rain started and it possitively hammered down. When we woke this morning about 8am there was no snow to see, just the tiniest piles left from where T had banked it up from the paths.

The patio that had been under snow..

…was clear and bathed in sunshine…

It’s certainly lifted my spirits. I hope you are all snow free now and there haven’t been the floods that were predicted. I don’t know where it’s all drained to here.

Yes its the same here Homebird, oh boy that rain really came down hard but its served its purpose and done good here, can only hope others are lucky and don`t get flooded, the sun is shining and although a tad windy its ten times warmer, the birds are having a whale of a time grubbing in the lawn and garden looking for juicy food, lol......

Same here no snow not a lot of rain like you though, its windy and cold now it was warmer this morning, bit like the Ides of March come early, this morning but wind has calmed down a bit now.

So glad it's gone Lincs. It has been a bit windy at times today but so nice to see the sun out for a change. The boys next door told T they are disappointed because they built a set of snow ramps yesterday for their remote control jeeps and when they went to play again this morning they had disappeared....lol

It's still a bit blustery here Sixpence, but sunny. Not been out yet but T says its a top coat warmer already.

Good riddance is all I can say. It's nice to know you can have your garden back now :o)
It's been thawing here since last week, but only slowly.
Last night there was a thunder storm, and it washed the remainder away. There are still little pockets on the highest hills, but that's all.
Glad it's lifted your spirits :o)

A winters thunder is a summers wonder Hywel :o)))

Yes, it rained hard here all night, as well. And part of the morning. But we didn't have any snow left to clear. In a way it's a good thig for you as it's horrible when snow freezes and hangs around for weeks.
just hope the rain and melted snow don't create any flooding problems in the days to come!

Never heard that sixpence ... :o) I hope we get a nice spring ....

I m sure we will Hywel the saying is out of my old book of omens what they used years ago to tell the weather, even the moon, stars plants and winds tells the forecast of weather, I shall put it on a blog bit by bit.

Nice wasn't it? We had hardly any snow, but ice was lingering. This morning....nothing left at all! I've even been out and done some planting, and even the flooding isn't too bad!

Same here. Woke to it raining hard and the wind had removed a couple of tarpaulins I have covering patio tables, but looked out the window and no snow left!

The sun then came out and it was avery pleasant day.

So pleased the snow has departed your garden, Hb ... same down here after the tremendous rainfall throughout last night ... I managed an hour and a half in the garden this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed myself while OH watched yet more footie on TV!

So nice to see signs of sunshine on your pics and your garden back to normal.

Rain and strong winds are forecast for us for most of the week - great!!! :-(

27 Jan, 2013

It certainly disappeared quickly here too. Good! A really cold wind today, though.

27 Jan, 2013

Shirley sounds like home from home, OH and the footie, me in the garden, but it is still far too wet to plant anything.

Lol, Dotty, FA Cup games seemed to be on all afternoon ... we went to the allotment this morning and I pruned the Gooseberry and Blackcurrant bushes while Michael lopped off some overhanging Buddleia branches ... when I put the spade in the ground there was a noise rather like when a spoon goes in jelly ... sooo wet! Not a chance of digging any weeds out for a while.

And the forecast is no better, but it is warmer, just down to two layers now!!

28 Jan, 2013

One of which will be waterproof, judging by the rain we have today!
