Our garden in August

T and I had a lovely week in the garden pottering and putting up a fence between our garden and next doors wilderness. It’s not quite finished but a day or two this week should see it completed. I was pleased to see one or two plants had come into flower while we were away the week before. I started writing this as we are in the middle of a cracking thunderstorm this tea time. We were up the garden when it started and took refuge in the summer (ha!) house, it was a bit hair raising to say the least as the noise was deafening. The sun has just come out again and it looks lovely and fresh out there now.
These are a few snaps I took this week….
T decided to clear out the shed and sort the tools. He asked me which famous person this reminded me of…..

Ho! Ho! Ho!……

In the flat lawn borders the John Howel clematis is trying to take over the bean row!!!

I can almost taste the apple and blackberry pies I am going to make with these little beauties when they ripen..

I can’t get over how pretty the flowers on the young hydrangea are. So different to the parent plant I took the cutting from……

….some flowers are pink….

…and some are blue…

I must take more cuttings this year. It just shows you the difference that different soil conditions make to the same type of plant.

This Gladioli has come up where I am sure I didn’t plant it !!! It’s very welcome though…

The astilbe are loving the wet weather…

That’s just about it for new flowers in this bit of garden and yesterday tea time I felt like playing with the cylinder mower. T said I shouldn’t drink in charge of a mower because I am unable to walk in a straight line after a glass or two. What do you think? The stripes look straight enough to me……

The Knautia flowers are so pretty up here…..

and the Lavatera are a joy too…

Down in the slope lawn borders, as some plants are finishing others are just coming on….

..and down on the patio..

Money plant out for the summer.

I bought this plant last November and it started flowering again this week..

All the tomatoes in the greenhouse are green as grass but this weedy thing in the conservatory is ripening up quickly…..sods law….

Thanks for joining me in……..

Thanks Cinders, I sometimes long for a nice flat garden but I must admit that it's nice to have so many different areas.
