Woody is back......

I woke up really early on Saturday morning and as is my usual routine I sat in the conservatory with my cuppa and watched the early birds having their breakfast. I was pleased to see woody woodpecker fly in to check out the old cherry tree again.

A few minutes later his friend joined him……

Then they had a bit of an argument and they both flew off in differnt directions!!!

Thanks girls.....We have never seen two together before and by the sound of them they don't like sharing.

Perhaps one was saying, ''you had better prune this ivy, before we move in'' and the repy was ''do it yourself''
Lol

Lucky you to see two in your garden HB....

I saw one at the bird table once and was unbelievably excited. I was reliably by experts that, having once found my garden, it would be back. Never seen it since!
So, lucky you and enjoy.

That middle one appears to have red on top of its head - in which case its a this year's young one! The males have red on the back of the neck and the females only have red underneath. so if they come again you can hopefully decide it ehey are "family"! We have mum and baby visiting the feeder - baby can manage perfectly well but as soon as mum appears he gets all helpless and needs her to feed him!

Thanks everyone.
Tuesdaybear they don't come very often and probably arrive when you aren't there to see. Makes it all the nicer when you do catch a glimpse of them though.
Steragram thanks for that info. I will try to get a closer photo if I am lucky enough to see them again. Isn't it funny how mums like to be mums and the young like to be fed for as long as mum will do it. A bit like us and our offspring...lol
Hywel one probably found a juicy bug and the other one got the monk on. I wondered if it was a territory squabble.
Tt and Sl, it was a nice surprise to see them.
Niverdeen, I'm pleased for once that I woke up early.
