Trip to the supermarket....can't resist the bargains...

We decided to go to do a big shop yesterday and get party food for T’s birthday on Monday. As we pulled into the car park we noticed the outside area was full of plants…after saying our store doesn’t do an outside plant sale!!! Anyway just had to browse didn’t’ I….
We (that’s the Royal we) picked up a quince shrub and 2×6 packs of Dahlias. Lovely healthy plants. Then inside we found a set of 4 blue pots. Just had to go and get another trolley to put them in. Poor T risked another hernia lifting them up to put in the trolley!! When we finally got to the till the girl informed us that the price had changed for the pots. Instead of £15 for the set they were £11.75…..bargain or what!!! Anyway here they are..

Oh! yes, we got enough food for the party too!!!!!

That's some bargain on the pots! And now you can have fun deciding whist to put into them ( another trip to GC needed) and then where you will put them etc.... Isn't gardening fun?

Thanks for looking everyone and your nice comments. It's the first time our local store has had an outside plant section. I couldn't leave them at that price. I have planted the Quince in the 2nd smallest pot as I want it big enough to survive in my front garden. T says thankyou all very much for your best wishes..... We are looking forward to having all our family and friends here on Monday.

Great bargains HB - bought one of those quinces myself the other week! Really like the colour of those blue pots - I was in Morrisons today and they only had terracotta ones, which after seeing yours is quite disappointing.
Happy Birthday too T - tell him not to eat too much - leave some for the grandchildren!!

My kind of shopping lol

Sounds like I was very lucky to get the pots Bloomer. Sorry they didn't have them at yours Scottish and Grandmage, maybe they will get some in later. T likes the shape of these because we have a devil of a job getting plants out of the bowl shaped ones when they need potting into larger pots.
Dd, it's funny but I don't mind so much when the bill comes to an eye watering amount if I have a few bargains in there....lol

Has everyone seen the beautiful outdoor ferns morrisons are selling for £1.79..? fantastic.

Happy Birthday T.

6 May, 2012

I saw some but they were very dry and shrivelled looking so didn't fancy them. Maybe at that price I should have got some and after a propper drink they would have perked up. Did you get some?

6 May, 2012

I got them as they arrived HB, all beautiful and healthy. It bothers me when I see plants unwatered in super markets and DIY stores..No need for it, garden centres manage without people slipping everywhere.

6 May, 2012

Pim it really upsets me when I see plants gasping in fact on my last Morries trip I went to find someone and to ask them to water them!! Lol. I think they think I'm mad!!

6 May, 2012

I take the ones that are drying out over to the cut flowers and dip them in the buckets..futile atempts really but I cant help it.

6 May, 2012

Hadnt thought of that one Pim. might get evicted though Lol!! I sometimes buy the plants just to rescue them!

6 May, 2012

Bloomer let me know if they have the pots at our Morrisons Please

6 May, 2012

my mum brought me home 3 of those ferns the other week - probably about the only practical thing she has ever bought for the garden....everything she brings home is usually not hardy!!

6 May, 2012

Lol I was just going to tell you on your nice new fern photo Scottish.
