A walk around the garden to see what is happening on this New years eve.

I could only see the evergreens and a few plants still hanging onto their autumn leaves and flowers from the window, so as the children have all gone home now after a wonderful Christmas I thought I would take a leisurely stroll up the garden to see what is coming up and was surprised to find quite a few things still flowering or growing that really shouldn’t be…….

Two of the Hebes….

…a Fuchsia…

The small Photinia ‘Red Robin’ I bought earlier this year is colouring up nicely…

I love this little shrub…

The snowdrops will soon be out…….

…and the daffs are pushing up all over the garden….

The Tree Peony hasn’t lost any leaves yet, I don’t know if it’s supposed to……….I must look it up to check…..

The yellow Chrysanthemums add a splash of colour too..

I don’t know whats going on with this ……

It was nice to see so much still going on. Aren’t we doing well with the gardens and the weather this winter. I know we will have to have some frosts and colder weather sooner or later but I am enjoying the respite so far. …and every day brings Spring much nearer. I brought these 6 Carnations down from the greenhouse and there are quite a few growing buds left up there. I hope they can grow big enough to flower in the next week or so. I am so glad I bought the plants this year as I have picked dozens of lovely blooms over the last few months.

..and these are 2 of the brilliant pressies I got from Santa this year….

Well here is wishing all the Goyers a Very Happy, Healthy (and financially comfortable) 2012. xx

Happy New Year Hombird. I was also hoping to take some pictures today but the torrential rain put me off. I seem to have cultivated an evergreen fuchsia amongst the stuff which should have died down by now!

Thanks Ojibway, Samjp and Frybo, and a very happy New year to you and your loved ones.
It's been so mild here it's really confusing the plants and me. I don't know what to wear...lol. Fingers crossed we don't lose too many plants when the weather turns wintery.

Playing catchup Homebird, belated Best Wishes for 2012 xx.
Its really great to see our gardens still delighting us with so much flowering continuously, it gives one a much needed boost, strange how some plants are further on than others, one instance is my snowdrops, they have only just poked through so are a few weeks behind whereas others are romping away, I do however have a sunflower showing again and more buds on some poppies, lol, also my everlasting sweetpeas are spreading along a fence near the greenhouse, usually no sign of them at this time of the year...

Happy New Year to you too. It feels weird being so mild for this time of year. I feel I aught to be out there digging and planting but my common sense tells me it can't stay like this much longer, so better to wait til March just to be on the safe side.I noticed new buds on one of the rose bushes today, lovely little red ones. A house I passed today in the village has Forsythia and fuchsia flowering side by side. It did look pretty.
