The beginning of June in the garden after a week away.

After a great week with my daughter and her husband and our two youngest grandchildren in Zante it was so nice when we arrived back home yesterday to find everything ‘coming up roses’ in the garden.
We had stayed in a very nice villa in its own grounds and gardens and of course I had to take a few photo’s of the lovely area. I thought you might like to see a few…….

We saw this in the garden of a house just down the road…….

This was the drive up to the villa……

One of the days we had a visit from this pair and Emily was fascinated as they tried to climb up as far as they could to reach the leaves on the vines……

There were lots of lovely roses and red geraniums…..

and we sat and watched these young swallows being fed constantly by their parents in a nest high up on the wall of the veranda as we ate our meals……

….the grape vine was fantastic over the pergola by the pool…….

It really is a beautiful place to stay…….

….it would have been nice to have stayed another week with them but my son-in-laws parents are spending this week with them as it’s his birthday today.
The children just love it in the pool …………

..and finally…..this is the oldest olive tree on the island ….reported to be 3000 years old……..and still bears fruit every other year……..

isn’t it amazing.

Well…..back to our own garden and at least the weather has changed for the better while we have been away…

Thank you, I was obsessed with watching them Paul. Thank you Stroller I felt quite lucky to stay in such a lovely place.
Thank you Cinders, my daughter chose it and she couldn't have chosen better I don't think. We went because Gareth was best man and Emily a flower girl at the wedding of friends on the Thursday before T and I came home. It was a lovely holiday.

There are some lovely places to visit. I was surprised how the swallows ignored us as they flew in and out around us. They soon snapped up any flies that dared to come into the varanda.

What a beautiful villa and all the gardens. I don't know what the first bush is but what fantastic blooms :) It was a treat to see the swallows in their nest....what good parents to keep them well nourished.

It's a Datura....angels trumpets, Wlass. Only grown here as a houseplant/conservatory plant. This one was about 5' tall by as much across.
