A brilliant weekend.

The poppies were spent and I needed a bit more colour in the borders until the later flowering plants did their thing, so off to the GC I toddled, not realising it was 4pm and they close early on a Saturday. Never mind I thought I will get a bit of shopping done while I am out.
First visit Aldi for a look round………… 2 lovely lavender plants for £3. One is Little Bee (lilac) the other is Ellagance (sky).

(When I knocked them out of the pots there were 3 plants in each so I split them.)
Very pleased with myself I thought I would pop into Wilkos for a shufty……Half an hour later I emerged with a half price Canna bursting out of it’s pot,

3 Cuphea hysopifolia

and 4 Chrysanth plants..

Really chuffed I packed them into the car and drove home, to be met by T asking what have you brought for tea……….errr 3 kicks at the pantry door.
Well, this morning I needed to go to B&Q for a bulb for the oven…….I have been synging my eyebrows and eyelashes off for weeks waiting for T to bring a light bulb for it so I can see what I am burning for dinner. Anyway, you can’t just look at light bulbs can you…………………..
So…………….. Went through the checkout with 7 geraniums, and a pot of lilies. Oh! and a bulb for the oven. I looked a bit like someone in a wet T shirt competition too as they were using a water sprinkler to water the plants and I had to do the 20 seconds dash to grab the plants and leg it before the spray arched back my way. Obviously I can’t move as quickly as I used to hence the Wet T shirt. Oh! and the checkout girl was rather taken aback when I picked a green caterpillar out of the lily pot and put it on the counter, telling her I didn’t want that thank-you, I have plenty. T says ‘I didn’t know they sold livestock.’
Of course I have to drive past the garden centre on my way home……………
I will only look I reassured my self. The girl at the till was very helpful as she helped me load the aubretia, gazania, another geranium and a gorgeous dahlia into the back seat of the car.. …Boots full remember.

I have had a great time after lunch planting everything and you know how satisfying it is to stand back and look at what you have done. Bliss. Broke but very happy.

My mouth is still gaping open at your small spending spree! You did good girl, I still can't believe your apparent madness. Forgive me! I really admire you and love all your purchases - including the bulb for the oven LOL

It's T's fault really, Grannysue, he pulled out the poppys from the front garden leaving a gaping area of just soil that needed filling, also he should have remembered to bring an oven bulb......................lol

I had a simolar feeling this morning as I too had pulled up lots of poppies and cut down some pereniels so was bemoaning the bare soil as you were, but you didn't stop there did you? I do wish I could be more spontaneous and as a matter of fact both my fridge and freezer have blown their bulbs so does that mean 2 SHOPPING trips for bulbs or......?

Homebird....I would like very much to post photos but there isn't much to take a picture of as yet! Hubby and I are having an ermmmm "discussion"!!!! about getting a professional in to get us started (particularly with the layout, paving etc.) I marvel at how successful so many of you are with your garden projects...I am in awe of you all. Promise to post piccies when we get started! Thanks for the welcome I've received here on Goy too.
