A beautiful day in the garden.

Hasn’t it been a glorious day today. The sun has shone all day and there has only been a breath of wind from the warmer south. It such a relief that the wind has turned at last after weeks and weeks of a very cold north wind. We spent all day in the garden, planting out some of the plants and painting the trellises. I can’t paint without getting it all over me, Lol. I have really enjoyed myself even though I ended up looking like the green monster. The beds are filling out nicely now. This is the border beneath the copper beach on the flat lawn, anything that grows here in a mere 6’’ of soil really has to have a strong will to live.

In the veg patch the sweetheart cabbage have started to grow and the beetroot and carrot seed I put in last month are starting to show. The peas and onions look promising and the runner beans are shooting up now the weather is improving.

Opposite the copper beach the border here has a fair depth of soil, and the plants are filling out and the gaps I am filling with the seeds I have raised this year.

These are the plants still to go in.

The tomato plants are starting to grow quickly and the grape vine my Mother bought me for my birthday last October has finally sprouted leaves. I have no idea how to grow this and all advice is welcome.

Well, I hope it will be another lovely day tommorow and we can concentrate on the top garden and putting a few more plants in.
I hope you all had a really nice day too. Doesn’t it feel good to have the sun around you and not have to wear your winter woolies.
Happy gardening. xx

what a productive day. I have a large beech that also is 'interesting to plant under'. The vine needs very little in the way of care. make sure it has good ventilation around it. if it flowers and sets fruit then thin the bunches by a third so that you get fewer but bigger grapes.

sadly no gardening for me as stuck at work all day.

Interesting is a good way of putting it lol. Thanks Sbg for the advice. I have tried to read up about grapes but it's scared me to death it seems so dificult. Pity you had to work on a lovely weather day. The forcast says it's here at least for the next week.

Thanks everyone. Good idea Cristina when it gets a bit big for the greenhouse. There is a cherry tree against one leg, near the seat and it's nice to just reach up and pick them. They never get further than the seat lol.

You`ve certainly got plenty done Homebird, but as I said to my OH who was feeling a bit neglected cause I`d been in the garden all day - you`ve gotta make hay while the sun shines. - Shan`t show him your blog, cause he`ll say at least you were planting grape vines, Wine being on his mind lol.
