Thankyou for your answers. I will move it this weekend, I know if I prune now it will lose the lovely new red growth but if it responds it will be worth it. Thanks again.

I am planning a visit to Barnsdale in June, it's somewhere I have wanted to visit for some time. Your photos are really good. Any more?

Hello, I don't claim to know anything about growing from seed, I have grown tomatoes from seed for the past few years. I start them off inside. I have a south facing windowsill I sow 2 seeds in each 3 inch pot and when they have 2 seed leaves pull out the smallest, I gow the remaining seedling on untill it resembles a tomatoe. As the weather warms up I transfer to my greenhouse where they grow on until ready to plant either outside in pots or in the greenhouse. Try to sow more than you need you will always get a few that don't do anything .
I try not to overwater as I think this can do more harm than good. Don't give up, if you only get one plant it will be worth the effort.

This looks like Ribes (Flowering Currant) The leaves look very familiar, never noticed how beautiful the flowers were until I saw your photo.

I had this plant but it became a menace so I pulled it all out, or so I thought. I noticed a small shoot the other day near the pond, didn't have the heart to pull it out.

How lovely, snow. I was hoping we would have snow today but I think it's just passed us by. We have a few small flurries at the moment but nothing to get excited about. I miss the cold winters we used to have, but don't tell my hubby as he hates the winter. He can't understand that english gardens need a hard winter to perform well in the summer no matter how much I tell him.

Happy Belated Birthday, sorry I don't get to look at the site as often as I would like these days. When I do I still love all the photos and reading about what everyone is doing. I can remember joining in May last year and thinking this is just the best website ever for me, I have picked up so much knowledge and information, so much better than the so called professional gardeners. It's amazing how many members there are now, and from different parts of the world too. Keep up the good work
It's my birthday tomorrow, when I have a drink to celebrate I will drink a toast to you.

Wonderful photo Sassy, I love this plant. Not got any myself, planted some a few years ago but they died and as they are so expensive to buy not tried them since. This photo makes me want to try again.

Hello Littlefarford. What a lovely photo, oh how I long to see my garden with snow. Not had any for some years now. Your garden looks so beautiful even in winter.

I have added cardboard and shredded paper to my compost for a long time now, my compost is rich and smells sweet, my garden seems very happy to have this spread on it. I think you should complain to the council, obviously the compost wasn't ready for sale and should be allowed to break down further before it is sold for garden use. I also agree, why are you not making some of your own you only need a small corner of your garden. I wouldn't give all my garden waste to my council only to buy it back from them.

I certainly don't think your mad, I think what you have done is really beautiful. I lost my dog Gemma four years ago I had her ashes put in a wooden casket and she is burried in our garden we planted a flowering cherry and laid a stone . This is now known as Gemma's garden. My grandson Ben who is nine always says hello Gemma when he is playing near the tree. Pets are part of the family or at least they should be. I know some people don't respect animals which I find very hard. I'm sure your rose will bloom for many years in memory of Buddy.

Hello majeeekahead,
This one is called Rowallane. I got it from one of the shows not sure which, maybe Tatton Park as it's in July when crocosmias are in bloom. I think the nursery is also called Rowallane and you can find them online. They specialise in crocosmia.

I visited Harlow Carr Gardens on Monday 5th November. The autumn colour was spectacular, made all the better for the beautiful sunshine we had, I just snapped my camera as I walked round and ended up with 90 photos, just posted a few of them, hope you like.

I planted Erythronium for the first time last year hope they come again next spring. The first time I saw them was at Harrogate flower show grown by the alpine society in pots, I then saw them on gardener world so thought I would have a go. I think the ones I planted were called Pagoda.
