Lavender Fields

Lavenders Fields is a five acre lavender farm located on the scenic Delmarva Peninsula. It is the original home of the Fisher Martin House that we visited earlier.

The property here has several outbuildings, a teaching center under the trees, and a gateway into a maze.

The ladies here sell live plants, dried bouquets, culinary items, soaps, lotions, sachets, and unique craft items

The grounds are covered with gardens, and not just lavender!

We saw roses, butterfly bushes Echinacea, Black-eyed Susans, and so many more!

The ladies there are delights to speak with, and have so much to share and teach…go visit if you are ever near by!

I thoroughly agree with all of you...we NEED smell-a-vision! And yes it did have a pleasant smell...I wonder why I had a deep seated calm come over me while there? lol

Ohh Madperth...how wonderful for you! I am envious.

As far as the smell goes...I have a lavender bath gel, soap, powder, lotion, cream, anything my Mother in law can find in lavender for me....guess she knows me too well in that area! lol

We make a lavender candle at work...it's one of the few I can recognise when someone shoves it under my nose & says 'what fragrance is this?'!!

16 Sep, 2009

LOL! I suppose if you're making them all the time, it would dull your sense of smell!

Wonderful!

Lavender is the aromatherpist's standby! We use it for so many things! Introduced to England by the Romans during the 'invasion' and been with us ever since. It has 'balancing' properties, primarily, it will neither increase nor decrease blood pressure, it neither over-sedates nor over-stimulates, it is a mild anti-inflammatoy, antiseptic ( all essential oils are antiseptic ) and an excellent treatment for mild 'burns', helping cool the skin and heal any subsequent scarring ( cicatrisant )... ( note: 'mild' ).

Oh, don't get me started....once I've got my aromatherapists hat on, I never know when to stop!

And yes, quite right, Mad ( hello, you! ) smelling anything for longer than a few minutes 'dulls' the olfactory receptors ( ooooooooooooooh ) so you can no longer perceive the aroma...you become desensitized.

I'll shut up, right now, and just say many thanks, HW, and I'll look forward to more of the same!

;-)

And she's off! Do they have lavender on Zog?????
Sorry, I sat down with a coffee & zonked last night! When I woke up I went straight to bed & slept for 12 hours!
I STILL feel tired! I suppose its just the stress of the last few weeks catching up on me!
But anyway!
It MIGHT have been the lavender oil I'd rubbed in cos my sinuses were playing up!

Hi Mad....let's leave Zog out of this one, eh? Otherwise windy explanations may be in order ( and it's not worth it, folks, trust me, I'm the silly blogger who started it! )

Most probably was the lavender oil, Mad, as some authorities state it to be sedative....though I've come across plenty of people who find it stimulating! It balances your need, I think...so if you need to be relaxed it will help, but if you need to be refreshed it will do that, too!

I'm 'off' again. Shut up, B!
