ONE GIRL WENT TO SOW A MEADOW…..

…..but first I had to get rid of the grass that had built up over that last couple of years.

The first year I sowed the meadow my boyf very kindly agreed to remove all the turf from the area. It is not a huge area but it was back breaking work so I didn’t really feel I could ask him to do it again. So instead I decided to invest in some weed killer. I was leaving it quite late in the season to sow the meadow seeds so I wanted a weed killer that would work quickly and get rid of the couch grass.

I went along to my nearest DIY store and was faced with an aisle full of different products all claiming that in some way shape or form they would be the answer to all my problems. In the end (after a phone call to my dad!) I opted for some Roundup and I didn’t just go for the hand held trigger spray I went for the big pump and go container as I didn’t want to have to return to the store as whenever I go I end up spending too much money.

Surprisingly when I got home with the Roundup my boyf suddenly became interested; I think it was the pump action trigger spray and extendable sprayer that encouraged him to do battle with the garden!

In no time at all he had sprayed the area, all we then had to do was sit back and wait for the product to get to work. Luckily we had a dry spell that week and by the next weekend you could already see the area turning brown.

After after a couple of weeks I was able to rake the area and I could see that the grassy weeds were dead right down to the roots.

Happy days, one area ready for sowing with minimal effort. That’s what I like!
