I live in Nottinghamshire and am just recently widowed so now have sole charge of the garden. I have someone to mow lawns and cut hedges but tend the rest of the garden myself. I am trying to make it easily maintained with perennials and shrubs but have many rose trees and bedding plants and am thinking of covering areas between the plants with bark or something similar. I lost a few plants in the winter but now have a double glazed conservatory where I can overwinter some of the tender plants
