I was very surprised this morning when I glanced out of my front room window. This is what I saw and fortunately had the camera to hand.

He seemed to want to pose as I managed to take this next one.

I only put food out in the back garden so he probably wasn’t going to stay around for much longer.

This was to be the last photo as he then flew away.
I got my bird book and looked through and found he was more than likely a Mistle Thrush. I know there are lots of people who regularly see lots of birds in their gardens but for me he was a first so I am excited. :~))))

I apologise for the quality of the pictures as they were taken through my window and aren’t as sharp as they would have been had I been outside.

Thank you Aster for your comments. I would have been equally as thrilled if your Dunnock had chosen to pop into my garden. I am so pleased to see any bird calling in to feed or take a shower in my pond fountain as the blackbirds do. Even (dare I say it?) the lone pigeon who lumbers along picking up the seeds which are too big for my usual hungry visitors. nature is wonderful

He's really lovely! I wish we could attract birds into our garden but we have a cat and I'd feel as if I were baiting them.

Wow thank you all for all your fab comments. Megan he was just here such a surprise, Lincslass I am so lucky especially as there wasn't any food out there Potty I have mealworms in back garden amongst regular mixed seeds, Sunflower seeds, dried fruits and fat balls Great, you would have thought I had won the Lotto..lol, Tatia, We have cats around (not mine) but the birds seem to know if one is around and have been safe all these years, but I do worry for the ground feeders. Mr and mrs blackbird take it in turns to feed and bathe as one sits on the hedge until mate does it's thing and then they change places. Viv, I must have a garden on route to somewhere as we don't normally have unusual callers, Freesia, Yes he was so welcome and I can but hope he calls agan, Sewingkilla I feel very honoured :))) Clarice, Just lucky camera was next to me as I had jus downloaded from it, normally running round trying to locate it, get it out of case etc by which time subject in next county.lol Labdancer, I fortunately have a few books to recognise birds whic I poured over to find out which thrush it was. Hywell, I keep looking through the window hoping for an action replay. Love to all and many thanks for taking the time to write such lovely comments. Love Sue xx

What wonderful photos...I love to watch birds coming into my garden although they are mainly pidgeons and magpies but they are still a pleasure to watch

Thank you for your kind comments Cazzalyn. Yes a great pleasure which like you normally amounts to just a couple of sparrows, a pair of blackbirds and the inevitable starlings. Our normal "exotic" birds are a pair of ring necked doves! It was very exciting to spot this very attractive Mistle thrush. Very fortunate too that as I was putting photos onto computer I had the camera to hand so this one didn't get away.LOL
