Adverts on Goy.

wish I knew how to stop it to GM, like you it gives me the creeps seeing rats and mice running around. its an awful advert,

Hello Grandmage. It's been a long time since we communicated. Personally I see no adverts on my screen as I stopped them. I do not know if you prefer to keep adverts appearing on your screen in order to be loyal to the administrators of this side who probably rely on advertising to keep this side running, or you simply do not know how to stop them. It is very easy to stop all adverts appearing on your screen. You can do it in many different ways but the most simple method is to download and instal an add-on called Adblock plus. Google the name and you will find the link.

I agree with Costas that Management of GoY might need a percentage of adverts to keep the site going ...

I use adblock- its free and get no adverts.

I haven`t managed to stop the ads on IE or AOL but by signing onto Goy via Google Chrome with adblock I have no ads whatsoever, do not understand why it did not work on the others, also since using it I don`t have to keep signing in and the pics on my last blog downloaded in half the time...

Not come across this one Grandmage - I get dating ads a lot ! Yes it is not nice to advertise this - but I have a real hatred of adverts in general

I get rats all the time Gill, but just avert my eyes as I presume "the boys" need ads for income???

I don't mind the rats. It's those dam birds I hate !

I can cope with the vermin, it's the dating sites I can't take! Adblock works a treat. It isn't really 'free' it's a 'pay as much as you like' program. I paid a fiver, I think it's only fair to pay for such great software!

I`m not into the technical side but the way I see it I haven`t stopped the ads from the site just my own laptop, I was prepared to have any ad associated with gardening, landscape, conservatories even the slugs and rats, I refuse to accept that dating ads, dementia and funeral costs are of any use to me in the garden and didn`t want them ramming down my throat all the time, when I got the one of the oriental ladies then enough was enough and I BLOCKED THE LOT..

Thankfully I haven't seen any of those ads. I only have to sign in every few days as I don't ever log out. I Do see the ad blog on Red Shoes & have been flagging it, but new ones for red shoes by the same person return almost daily. And recently I have seen two in non-English, which I have not flagged, as was not sure if they were blogs from a genuine GoYer or ads. Did anyone else see those non- English blogs?

no-one has mentioned the cockroaches ? I get them scurrying all over the place when I go into GoY for my 'Happy Fix' & this advert gives you the opportunity to whack them with a shoe??? Spiders,snakes,worms etc not a problem but cockroaches & rats are real stomach churners for me. I cannot look at them in pet shops. I most definately could do without seeing either. I will say the idea of squashing a roach is beyond disgusting. Friends had a pet shop way back & I had a self imposed rat therapy session to try & overcome this phobia. I still shudder when they bought this huge & yes friendly rat out for me to t -- - - -uurhggggggg !! i cant even finish this sentance - - -:-/

I have never seen the red shoes ad Dwyllis but yes I have seen non-english ones in the past.....Crumbs Bampy I think seeing cockroaches would have made me turn off, I can`t bear anything like that...

it's playing right now Lincsy, it's called 'Catch the Cockroach' for a chance to win an i-phone. Is it just me that's getting this one ?

Thank you all, you have been very helpful, now i will have a go at 'downloading' and 'fixing' this ad-block thingy!! Lol. Not sure how, but will try. You have all given me great ideas and I am grateful. Even if the 'lads' on here do get income from these ads, i would prefer to see nicer ones to tell the truth, it is the ones that 'wobble' and move around that I don't like, so off putting and if I saw cockroaches my skin would crawl for sure.

Well, I hope I'm not tempting fate, but the only ads that appear appear are things I've been looking into. Wouldn't like to see any creepy crawlys at all! I even shut my eyes when "I'm a celebrity" is on. YUK! I hope you're successful, Grandmage.

I get classical guitar ads which are connected to what I have browsed so that's fine but I have never gone anywhere a rat or roach ad so thats abit of a head scratcher ( or is it those roaches again ) AAAHHHGG!!

Bampy funny you should mention this but yes, if we have been browsing through the day we certainly see adverts later on that are connected but Rats, mice, slugs & snails????? Horrid.

Hi Rosie, it is the same with me they are crawling across my page every time I log on. I have done this Adblock thing but it hasn't worked!! Will have to get my son over. Hope you Ok. have you been affected by all this rain? Terrible isn't it?

The weather is just attrocious - is it one 't' or two?!!!

Yorks=so have I aren't they horrid! Still trying to work out how to block them, going to get my son to look but their baby is due any day now so he is busy at mo. Lol x

let us know when the baby is born won't you, and yes I think I need help to block out the rats, they drive me insane GM as well as giving me the creeps.

Ad block works for me.......using Safari and Google Chrome, it also works with Firefox.

Yes Yorks, I have shopping adverts today, Cotton traders. Dont mind them so much :)
