OH's new shed or should i call it 'new abode' ?

Its up! we have been busy (well OH has!) tidying, digging , trimming and cementing and getting ready for his new workshop/shed to arrive. Peter has been like a little boy, all excited (like Christmas is coming) and finally his new ‘baby’ has arrived.

1.The old ‘shed’ with hidden subsidence.

2.It’s down, these are the roof joists, worth keeping says OH !

3.Preparing the new base.

4.New base finished and drying.

5.The new workshop, think you will agree it looks smart.

5.Doors open and waiting to be re-filled. (thats a new blog. LOL) think a single bed will fit nicely along the back wall, dont you? :)

Great shed,G.mage.Peter is going to be well pleased with that..Are you allowed in it? :o)..just one thing..where have you put Dylan and Emily's slide..?

Hi all, Thank you Cinders, Pam, Julia ( no name as yet!), Yorks & B. Think the answer to your Q. B is NO. maybe to look but definitely not to touch! The slides have been re-located to the other end of the garden, we get them out when we know they are coming over, Lol. In fact we lent a neighbour the green one for their grandson and can have it back anytime!

If the single bed wont go in, I've found a hammock is very comfortable lol.
Seriously my OH would LOVE a shed, but my G.H came first!

Good idea Waddy, will pass that info on! We have just got rid of our GH. and I feel quite liberated as I found it too much work :( OH builds steam trains so he needed this space rather than the dining room table!! Lol.

It's a lovely shed. I like the double doors. What's he going to put in it ?

29 Aug, 2012

Well Hywel all his train building things will go in it along with a lathe, milling machine, drills and tons of metal bits. Lol. The double doors are great aren't they, wide enough for large engines etc. His Britannia is 5' long.

This is brilliant Grandmage - excellent work !!!

What a great job you've done! Every bloke needs a shed....or a loft. Mine's more of the 'loft type'!

29 Aug, 2012

A job well done , all we need now is a picture of Peter next to his pride and joy [I mean the SHED lol]

29 Aug, 2012

Takes me back - my dad used to build steam locos in his garage. (The car never stood a chance...) Lets wish him many happy years of puffers!

Diane if you look through my blogs and find '30 years in the making' you will see Britannia on there.

lovely job, GM - How long did the old shed stand for? if it didn't have a proper base like this, this should last much longer.

I'd love to have a shed, or some outdoor spae out of the weather - I've got lots of messy craft stuff that I've got no room to do in the kitchen - and there'd be a heck of a lot of pre-prep to cover all the food-preparation surfaces beforehand!

Hi Fran, well we had the brick built 'shed' for years but over the last couple it had cracked and had started to move due to the location of neighbouring trees. So it had to come down, Peter needed a realiable workspace so he could work with his lathe & milling machine, working with metal requires a dry space! Shame you cannot have a 'shed' :(

30 Aug, 2012

Looks great GM, love the size & doublr doors.
I liked the old brick one but this should be much lighter & having them doors open on a summer's (Ha) day will be lovely :-)

just the job for me as long has i get a chair and a work table and some were for me can to stand on lol xx :))) BBFB

30 Aug, 2012

Smashing size for all his 'stuff' your OH is rightly pleased. You could consider calling it THE ENGINE HOUSE.

30 Aug, 2012

Nice one Scot. will put that name forward! Mark reckon you should build a special table for your 'can'!! Thanks Willi, OH is a happy bunny now that his new workshop is waterproof because his trains stuff costs a fortune! Did you say open doors on a summers day....LOL..... well not this year anyway!!

30 Aug, 2012

That's one fine shed! Now you have your dining table back too!
