weather So mild

Weather is so mild, I have Hybrid clematis starting to throw out new shoots, montana clematis all buds are swelling , snowdrops will be open in the next few days, daffodil bulbs all showing like it is March and a beech hedge by my office producing fresh green leaves in abundance.

Birds in the garden singing, sounds to me like spring has arrived.

Slugs and snails are trying to reek havoc when normally most are deep underground or sheltering in a warm spot (snails)

My bees are out and about and nothing for them to feed on …. its all gone haywire.

Downside and we will have frosts……. all this fresh growth will be killed off and what will happen in the spring !!!

moan over good thing I have the heating on less !!!

I wonder if we will have any spring flowers left for spring? Those flowering now will be gone and any frosts will probably damage growth tricked into sprouting now.

I agree Siris , in the park by the office they have planted a whole bed with yellow polyanthus and they are in full flower, will they flower again ? in spring ????
And animals that hibernate like hedgehogs if food available all will be fine but they should be fast asleep by now saving energy.

I agree Gg, it worries me nature will be thrown completely off kilter.

Blue tits are " pairing up" and practising spectacular flying displays. They'll be looking for nesting material before too long ! I have yellow Welsh poppy seedlings that have germinated following this year's flowering - they are in bud and about to flower ! Weird ...
