Lots of Pots

On my way to the library today I was just passing a skip as a perfectly acceptable planter was thrown onto it.
‘Excuse me, could I take that please’ I asked. Indeed I could and not only that but I was invited into the garden because the owner had ‘a few other things’ he was about to throw out.

I might paint the planter the same colour as the summerhouse.
There were lots of pots, all shapes and sizes.

And then two plants in pots, I don’t know what they are.

And finally, two olive trees.

I’m so glad I walked that way, I’ve been busy all afternoon.

You are so right Lincslass, great excuse isn't it.

You've done really well with those items, Ginellie, but it makes me cross to think they were going in a skip! He could have put them on Freecycle or advertised them 'free to collector' .. not to worry, his loss is certainly your gain!

I so agree Shirley and I suspect that a lot more is to be thrown out. It's a courtyard garden he has and it is to be completely changed apparently. I'll just have to keep walking past the skip.

Walking ??? Take a van! . . . . .

His builders have one Shirely, that's how I got all the stuff home - it would have taken a long time on the wheelbarrow!

Good for you! A similar thing happened to me. My and my husband were taking some rubbish to the local tip and the man next to us at the tip was about to throw about a dozen black shrub tubs into a skip. He saw me looking at them and nudging my hubsand and offered them to me. I snapped his hands off!!! they were emptied, cleaned out and the bottoms already drilled with holes. So I came home minus my own rubbish but with someone elses's!! Not as nice as yours though.

fantastic - I would love that to happen to me, lucky you.

WOW!! That was lucky, they would have cost a fortune to buy, those pots are expensive. Well done!

Looking forward to seeing what else you manage to salvage ... lol!

Well Ginellie you really were in the right place at the right time weren't you! I quite agree about putting decent stuff in skips/tips, some people just can't be bothered I suppose. You were very lucky to have such obliging builders there to transport it all! I too am looking forward to your next instalment.

Wow, how lucky are you??? :) Some of those pots would be quite expensive from a garden centre. It just goes to show if you don't ask you don't know!

I think you are right about the azalea Homebird. Went past the skip last week to find it piled high with the old patio slabs. The gate was open and I could see the new, almost white marble paving and not a plant in sight. So sad.

I agree,Ginellie, very sad indeed..Maybe it is someone elderly who can't look after a garden..although that colour marble doesn't sound like like an older person's choice..but what do I know ! Lol.It wouldn't be mine, would need my sunglasses on permanently..:o)

No Bloomer, it's a young couple who 'want something modern'. Ah well, each to his own I guess.
