I know this is not garden related but I am just so pleased I had to post the news.
My step-son Brad has been fighting Hogkins Lymphoma since November 2008. He had 6 months of chemotherapy which was completed at the end of May. We have been waiting since then for him to have follow up tests to gauge how well the chemotherapy worked and to see if he had to have additional radiotherapy.
On Tuesday last, he had to travel down to Vancouver to have a PET scan which would show if the mass remaining in his chest was still cancerous or just scar tissue.
I am overjoyed to report that the PET scan showed no cancerous tissue and Brad will not have to have any further treatments.
Thank you to you all for your good wishes and positive thoughts over the past 7 months. Your support has kept us strong and I’m sure the positive thoughts and good wishes had a lot to do with the success of the chemotherapy.
You are all forever in my heart and prayers…...such wonderful people on such a wonderful site. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you everyone. We are all overjoyed.
Definitely time to celebrate. Big bash at my place and you're all invited.
I'm baking a huge cake so there will be some for all. Ian, you don't have to fly.....sail over on the back of a whale. No flowerpot people allowed. All dogs, cats, rabbits, budgies, tortoises, birds, squirrels and other assorted furry and feathered friends are welcome too. There will be special gourmet animal food for them too.
Toto, you can even come in your straight jacket....special pink polka dot pills are on hand for your celebratory meal. LOL.

Just wonderful, Gilli - like Avis, I know what you've been through this last year - our son-in-law had the same disease diagnosed in February 2008, in his case in his neck, and it took quite a fight with the hospital for them to take it seriously. But my daughter stamped her feet and insisted on another op. after the first 2 showed the lumps as 'benign' !!!, because she knew he was really sick, then 6 months of chemo and radiation, and his last scan was clear. Well done Brad, I know what you've been through...

thats great news gilli, being new on here i didnt know of your worry but am so glad all is well now for brad, i know what its like to have cancer and each time you go for checks you pray its ok,, makes you think about how precious life is, very happy for you gilli,,x

Wonderful news for all your family Gilli. I know how you all must have been feeling. My sister was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney in Feruary and had an operation to
remove the kidney in March. The results were no secondaries and the expectation of complete recovery. Yes, we had champagne that evening too. She has since been on a cruise to Norway and is looking SO well. As Sanbaz said life is very precious. Love Roseberry

Thanks again for all your well wishes.
It is wonderful to hear of other success stories too. Life is certainly very precious.
Brad saw the Oncologist yesterday and was given the thumbs up. Back in three months for a check. As his lungs were damaged from the chemo he has to avoid high elevations. He has to stay in the lowlands....no going up to Sun Peaks (the local ski hill, hiking area) even. Certainly no flying. Other than that he is off all meds...even the Prednisone. Yippee.

I'm so sorry not to have supported you Gilli. I don't know why but I didn't even know that your step son was ill. I'm so glad to hear of you good news though, it must be a wonderful relief for you and all your family, not least for Brad. Thank you Janey. We are still over the moon and the stars. Brad is looking better everyday and is starting to get on with his life now. He can't go back to work just yet but has been told by his old boss that there is a job waiting for him when he is ready.
Free-wheeling for a while sure would be nice. For me the last ten years has been one crisis after another. Time for a rest. :oD
