Medinilla cummingii - Philippine Orchid Flowers

Medinilla cummingii - Philippine Orchid Flowers (Medinilla cummingii - Philippine Orchid)

My Philippine orchid is still flowering. It's starting to develop the purple berries, also. Photo taken Nov. 30, 2017.

Stan,

Thanks! Yes, it looks exceptional good this year. A couple of the leaves got a little burned when we had the very hot weather last month. It was even in the shade. The low humidity from Santa Ana conditions is really bad for this plant.

Penny,

This is not an orchid. It's a Medinilla which is in the Melastome family.

I hope I can get some seed off this plant. I'd love to grow some small plants.

Thank you for explaining its not an Orchid Andy. I hope you to get some seeds off it. What kind of small plants have you in mind to grow

Small Medinilla plants. I would love some back up plants just in case this one dies. I've had this one since 1999 (if I'm not mistaken). I've almost lost it a few times to neglect.

Stan,

It has been very warm to hot, that's for sure. Yesterday was the first little taste of winter. It was only 65 degrees. Today it was 72 degrees, which is closer to normal. The lows (nights) are suppose to cool down, too...upper 40's to low 50's. All those lows in the upper 50's and low-to-mid-60's are gone for while.

Now, we must have some rain! No rain so far here this season. This is really bad news! :>((
