Syzygium fibrosum looks very similar to Syzygium paniculatum...the leaves are just a little larger. Very nice!

Well Skippy, this is my tree and is in a restricted area ( under shadecloth - heavens knows why the former owners planted it there ) and it has reached the ceiling. It has only had about 5 flowers, from which I had 3 red fruit ( very sour too ), but I believe in their natural habitat in the rainforest they must get more flowers. This one was growing close to the tree trunk.

Isn't that blossom absolutely fscinating? I love the color too. Does it get a lot of these blooms?

Another name is water apple. They taste good, provided they are dark red, crisp and watery, with a slight sour taste.

We have a lot of spiders in our area. They can create many webs on trees and plants...I usually just hose the plants off...it generally gets rid of most of the spider-webs.

Marguerite,

This plant is growing through the large monkey enclosure at the San Diego Zoo.

It is soft to touch, as long as you don't hold it too long, as the ants love the nectar too and they bite if you get into their territory, lol. Yes Delonix, somewhere along here are the pics with the fresh pink new leaves too. This is however a different one than the two next to it, which has pink flowers. I have three small trees next to each other, again used as screening plants. The ants just love them and make a lot of nests in them, guess the leaves are soft and easy to stick together.

Well, they could be cut off with a whipper snipper. I would like to know why that mesh is there and if I am right, the tree has grown through it. What is the reason, or is it someones fence?
I noticed the mango tree leaves, have seen thousands in the past 4 years, lol. Have even one in my back garden.

I really like this tree. This tree grows easily here...I like how the new leaves open up pinkish and red colors. Beautiful!

The tree didn't any fruit on it when I took this picture...which is pretty unusual since this tree can have fruit almost any time of the year.

This tree is about 30 feet tall and very lush which is typical.

It would not be a good place to relax when it has its thousands of purple fruit which stain everything.

Note: because it produces so many fruit...it has a tendency to become a weed tree in wet and even drier areas. I have seen many seedlings under large trees.

Yes, and we can eat them too, too sour raw, but they're good for jam making, but I don't do it.
