narh this one wont break the bank fl, 'cheep as chips' as we say over here! and they spread really well and quickly, great ground cover, that supresses the weeds, and this type is evergreen. i think i bought this one last year for approx £1.50 - not sure what that would be in dollers, but in just a year it is nearly 6 times the size, but i would'nt call it a thug, it does'nt take over, just fills any available gaps, and looks pretty. - i have just bought 3 others that are slightly different colours. i would defo recomend it!

ow give it another try Jac, i have always found them really easy, i have done nothing to it, just plonked it in - so i would say it is proberly down to soil type and location, mine is in a sunny hole approx 2ft x 2ft sq in the crazy paving so it gets plenty of sun and is well drained - why not try in a pot with Rhododendron compost, stick in in a sunny postion, include some gravel as mulch, and you will be creating simular conditions to what i have! i bet you will have more luck! - keep me posted!

maybe they like acid soil? coz i get away with a lot of things that others struggle with because the need acidic soil. you could always try them in a pot with Rhododendron compost?

Are you sure it's pigeons spritz, coz we get thousands of them and never had the problem with saxifraga, and whatever it is digging it up you know that if you stick the bits in the grown and water, often they will root and produce another plant!

Mine does, too. Or else SOMETHING scratches it up and leaves it in bits on the path - I suspect the dreaded pigeons again,,,I have one left in my Alpine trough - I think - I haven't checked on it this week....I am not buying any more. I have changed to Aubrieta, Iberis and Alyssum as they do well for me. (and the pigeons leave them alone)
