Genus: Petroselinum

Otherwise known as Parsley, this is a genus of only 3 species that has very high vitamin C content as well as being widely used in cookery.

Petroselinum crispum is the garden variety herb that is easy to grow as an annual or biennial and won’t loose its taste if chopped and frozen. Parsley is also a member of the carrot family and is susceptible to carrot fly so don’t grow them together!

The variety ‘neapolitanum’ is often called Italian parsley or flat-leaved parsley and is said to have a stronger flavour.
