Oh, I ADORE sweet peas! They are absolutely enchanting! And the perfume.... What could be more heavenly than a bouquet of these? I would harvest armfuls every day if only I could...
...because they are cantankerous and don't like me. <sob> :-(
Your photo just melts my heart.

The colors are nice but I grow them for the fragrance, one decent vase full will make the whole house smell fantastic. Plus it makes that part of the garden smell wonderful too.

I grow mine in 6 toilet roll tubes filled with compost and held together with a rubber band, (this stops them falling over). As well as growing 5 or 6 of them in a really deep pot's, the sort that climbers come in. These then go straight into the ground in the spring as a clump and do just fine.
Oh they always smell fantastic too.

I did the same, but my packet told me to but the seeds in a propogator which I haven't got. Is this necessary?

I can only repeat andrea. Mine are kept in an unheated green house and they are fine. In fact I have two in the garden still in flower. I shall take some pic's tomorrow.

They will be fine in an unheated greenhouse, they are extremeley hardy! I grow mine this way every year and it means that come next spring you will have some strong little plants to put outside. Remember to pinch out the growing tip when there are about 4 true leaves, they will only grow slowly after their initial spurt, but will be fine through the winter.

My sweet peas as you can see by my pics turned out to be one color not mixed like I had thought. I am very glad tho as I really like the one color for a change!

I love sweet peas - and their fragrance. This is a beautiful colour. Most of mine have been white or pale this year. I will have to buy packets of specific colours for next year, I think. not just 'mixed'!.

Thanks Jacque! it's my favourite one - seeds given by a friend. Some of the other flowers are pretty but wishy-washy colours. I bought a packet of seeds for fragrance this time. Next time I shall buy TWO packets, one for fragrant flowers and one for darker colours!
