Forsythia is a genus of flowering deciduous shrubs growing to 3 m. Their bright yellow flowers appear in the early spring before the leaves.

If you can get a section with roots it should transplant easily, although I would wait now until after it finishes flowering to reduce stress. If just a cutting, I apply rooting powder and water frequently until established. I have to tell you that my cuttings are much less sucessful so I do numerous ones in hopes that one takes. If they all take, they are much easier to move, with roots, to another spot.
Once established, it flowers on new growth, so prune right after flowering to shape shrubs.

i would reccomend it easy attractive and they do make a nice hedge - but you must only prune as the flowers fade otherwise they dont have as many flowers the following year!

This forsythia is very cheery first thing in the spring. I love it when the bulbs start to bloom, because it means that an explosion of colour follows, with the rhodedendrons and azalias, then the poppies. Lindak.

It's a reed screen. It was the easiest way to hide the neighbours wire fence and lots of rubbish on his side associated with his dog run and back of his shed.

Nice plant Chris and very popular. You couldn't get any more blooms on it! It grows tall and makes an excellent back of the border shrub. I evicted mine when it started travelling too much.
Is that a bamboo fence behind? Looks good whatever it is.

Not all of us Chrispook. We must be just a week or so ahead of you, but
nowhere near as far on as the southern half of England. The snowdrops have just flowered this week (not opened up tho), No crocus or iris, some dafffs are showing now closed flowerheads. Like you, a couple more weeks or so. We might be slightly warmer than you lately, but probably not much. Last nite, driving home at 9pm, temp was -3 and visibility a few yards due to freezing fog. Picked my wife up at Edinburgh airport (amazed flights could even land) and she immediately took ill after a few days in London. What a difference an hour makes!

I like looking at my Spring photos when in the depths of winter. It encourages me that the end is in sight. My crocuses and daffs are beginning to push through the soil here, but it will be a few weeks before we see flowers. All those guys in UK have got them in flower already!
