Genus: Eryngium

Eryngium maritimum is often found on European sea shores. Other species are grown as ornamental plants and are often called sea holly though not growing anywhere near the sea.

Beautiful - I know they call it Miss Weillmott's ghost because she used to scatter seeds in other people's gardens, but this photo shows the plant itself has beautiful ghost-like quality to it to. Great picture.

Glad to see them growing in someone's garden. The voles ate the bloom stems off a ground level this year.!
