Hywel- If I'm there when it flowers, believe you me, I'll take a picture of it and of course share it with GOY :) Did you see the flower pics that I posted from a similar one awhile back? Must have been around June or July... They are quite spectacular! Here's a link to one such cactus:

I did absolutely the right thing when I was given my cuttings...They were in a plastic bag in my purse and I forgot they were there for two days...lol... my friend here on goY told me I had done exactly the right thing because they should be left for a period of time before potting up...lol. serendipity... When I discovered the cuttings again (Horrors!, they're dead!) I stuck them into a black plastic compost filled bag and left them out in the heat and wet... They started to grow like gangbusters and two little cuttings have filled up the pot with shoots...It's filling out and liking it's spot in the shade so I'm hoping for blooms this fall.

Lori, I'm sorry but I am not an expert on this plant. This one is actually my mother-in-laws. I would say part shade, should be fine. I have a cutting of one and it's doing absolutely nothing for me. It's not dead, though...so I guess that's a good sign :) Good luck. If I see any website with advice on these, I'll pass it on to you.

I'm hoping... on expert advice I have removed it from my window sill and put it out on my deck in a shady spot...I'm building a shade house beside my garden shed... this is going to be one pampered epi! ahaha...

it always amazes me that such delicate, ephemeral, gorgeous flowers come from one of the toughest plants on the planet!! Another exceptional picture, Tasty...

Xela- I found this website with an excellent variety of Epiphyllums. Here's a link: http://www.epiphyllumworld.com/Epiphyllum_World/Gallery.html
The flowers are really spectacular, but very short lived.

I think it is kind of nice to see a real name, disappointing google search though, LOL. Have to wait until you get "discovered." I know of a couple of websites that allow people to see their art work. I will look them up and send you the links privately if you like?

I have sold some of my photos, mostly to friends and family members though. A friend of mine and I like to make stuff (beaded jewelry, beaded insects, decorated gourds (limited), lavender products, framed photos, etc) and we've been trying sell it, but we don't have a place to sell it from. We went to our local flea market and probably broke even, not that good. I would love to sell my photos. My friend and I had a craft sale at her house and we did okay there.
I put my name in the corner in case anybody copies my pics, then I get credit for taking them:) I wish that I had done that in the beginning, when I started posting my pics. Too late now, oh well.
Does it look bad with my name in the corner? My mom saw one of pics on here with my name and she said that that made her proud...how cute :)

Does your name in the corner mean you are going to start selling your photos?

Thanks Grammazoo. This is my mother-in-laws. I was in the kitchen this morning listening to music on my iPod and I did not hear her come in the back door. She scared the bejeezes out of me!!! She came to inform me that it had bloomed. She knew that I'd want to get a picture and she was right, it's gorgeous and big (about 5-6 inches in diameter).
