Sweet/Bell Pepper "Rainbow"

Sweet/Bell Pepper

Our first one! Needs to grow on a bit. Went from lime green, to dark green, to brown, to this dark "aubergine" purple. Hope we get some bright colours, too!

Very cool !

I second that! Do you know if the skin will smooth out?

It willl smooth out as the pepper grows, and forms its 3-lobe "bell" shape. Ideally, I should just discard this and the next 2 fruits, to allow the upper ones to grow bigger. But, I refuse to follow this "rule". Home-grown fruits will never achieve the overgrown size of supermarket ones, BUT will have more vitamin A and C content, and a better taste. So, I never sacrifice any of my fruit for bigger and so-called better! I still get sweet peppers on my unheated greenhouse plants in December - long after I've forgotten about them! It just seemed like a lifetime from sowing late February till now - but doesn't time fly?

It's just amazing how you have found all these Ozz named flowers and veggies David.

Many thanx, Mike - many more to come (wouldn't it be gr8, tho, if we could have had them all at the same time?)

I have never seen a purple pepper, how cool! The stalk looks so thick and healthy, good work!

I'd never seen one b4, either, Tammielee, and thanx for the compliment.

Wonder if there is any difference in the flavour compared with the more common ones?

Have so far resisted finding out, Xela. The one in this pic has grown a fair bit bigger, and will soon be "forced" to eat it, as there are quite a few more fruit following on now. Will let you know in the next couple of days.
