Side yard flowerbed

I love the way the garden is filling out due to all the rain, but all the extra weeding is about to kill me. It's about too much for me to handle by myself . Can't wait for things to get alittle larger so they will shade out the weeds !

Appreicate your comments Bernieh. It was a tough section to landscape, being on this very steep hill. I killed alot of plants trying to find the toughest of the tough that could hang on...lol

You Dreamer! hahahah.... those weeds will be right in there growing like mad. I have flights of fancy like that too.... btw..what would you recommend as "toughest of the tough" ??? I could use some of that... oh yes, and the sweet william seeds you sent me are blooming, very pretty pink and wonder of wonders my lupin is budding up!!
LOVE those lilies! What are they called? The rabbit missed my Vermeer this year! hurray! it has lots of buds but I'm about 2 or 3 weeks behind you...

I'm sad to report that I tried the begonia seed but had no luck! Rats! I placed them where I thought they would do best ...right in the ground at the base of a large shrub with semi shade...but perhaps a nice flat of seed medium would have been better...live and learn....recognized some of the names...Phlox doesn't grown well for me...at least the coloured cultured stuff doesn't...the wild stuff is pretty enough but has a whacking great plant and puny blooms...lol. have lamiums...have you ever tried limonium?

Ooops.. forgot to say thank you for the list! Thankyou!!!

Yes Lori, I've grown the annual statice many years ago, almost forgotten about them..., they were so cool...! I also still have one of the perennial varieties.
The begonia seeds are much smaller than grains of sand and if they get covered up by dirt the sprout will not have enough energy stored in the seed to make it back up to the surface of the soil. I germinate these seeds in a potting medium in a large, thin container that you can easily bottom water. I use the cheap, throw-away aluminum pans with the plastic lids. I punch holes in the bottom of the pan, fill with potting mix, surface sow my seed and then fill the lid up with water and then set the pan inside the lid. It works well for me anyway....:-)

Thanks Jerrie......no, you have to keep moving on a bit don't you, though we haven't a lot of room here, Ian would like some Bantams and Quail up near the greenhouse....so that's next years project!....:o)

Sounds like a exciting project Janey. They are sure to add alot of entertainment, and lets not forget to mention, free fertilizer and bug control to your garden.
