Gladiolus carneus

Gladiolus carneus (Gladiolus carneus (Large Painted Lady))

The nice thing about the species Gladiolus is that they are shorter and hold up to the winds better than the hybrid types.

This is such a beautiful glad. Where does it grow? What I really want to know is can I grow it in Seattle?

This is a winter-growing type. It is just starting to come up again after a dry and hot summer rest. Unless you have a frost-free area, it won't grow in Seattle. I remember how cold it got when I was stationed on Whidbey Island, and this bulb would not survive outside; yet it only grows in the winter.
Welcome to GOY!

What else?

See who else is growing Gladiolus carneus (Large Painted Lady).

See who else has plants in genus Gladiolus.
