Redcurrant - Prepare to be eaten!

Redcurrant - Prepare to be eaten! (Ribes rubrum (Redcurrant))

Another quick snap of the same redcurrant bush - now ready to be eaten! We have had four bushes like this, this year ... must be doing something right (one bush worth went into Strawberry and redcurrant jam - with just a touch of apple juice and ginger). What stunned us is that we only put them in last year ... so they've only had their first year winter pruning.

Certainly is :) I pinch one or two every time I pass (which is a lot), I don't seem to be able to make a dent! Yum yum.

We've got strawberrys, the red currant and mint all within a few feet - I snack very well you know ... sometimes I think I could forage in our garden ... I've even got my eye on a couple of wood pigeons in a nearby Ash tree.

The fox dragged in a partridge from somewhere a while ago ... so, if he can find one I'm sure I could eat quite well ... only a kettle needed.

think I could supply you with the kettle, hope you have plenty of water out in the garden, with all that to eat you will need plenty to drink!! Lol

Water ... yes, I vaguely remember that? Isn't that the stuff that's supposed to fall from the sky for 90% of the British summer?

Even the slime at the bottom of one of water butts has evaporated to, well a black crust stuff. I would get it out, but that would require a bit of effort on my part!

we have had no rain for as long as I can remeber. my neighbour has just come back from the lake district and said the rivers had burst with the rain they have had and was still having this morning, lucky devils. just leave the black stuff and put your feet up.

What else?

See who else is growing Ribes rubrum (Redcurrant).

See who else has plants in genus Ribes.

This photo is of "Redcurrant" in Mrv's garden
