Arundinaria Bamboo .muriellae

Arundinaria Bamboo .muriellae

A very attractive bamboo with yellow stems, we planted this against dividing fence to provide privacy, We have kept it in very large plastic tub to try to keep it under control, this has been in the ground for 3 years now so seems to be working well.

This is beautiful. I am always tempted by large bamboos but am afraid I will lose control of it :)

This is just a nice size Pp. I have one in a large pot, i want to put into
the ground in my Wildlife plot. Can they take Shade, as only part of it
gets the Sun in the Summer? Do they like Clay Soil? I agree with Amy
i do like to see them swaying in the wind, they are so gentle and
Feathery. I am a great admirer of Bamboo and Ferns.....: -)))

If you do get one Sandra and plant it in a tub, you need to plant the tub too as they will blow over in the wind!

I have one of these fargesia murieliae bamboos. We planted it directly in the ground maybe about 15 years ago but this particular one isn't invasive. It's clump forming so just gets wider around the bottom. It is in shade for most of the day. It is now regularly watered and is really lovely, and approx 5ft tall. In spring I dug around the base, but not too far and put in some chicken manure pellets for the first time. It seems to have liked it! I have a lovely informative book by the RHS about Grasses and Bamboos which tells you which bamboos are clump forming, and which are invasive. I take it to the garden centre as I can't remember all the different names.

Sorry to blather on!! I may sound like a know-it-all (hope not) but I have read this great book many times as I find bamboos very beautiful and interesting.
