Acer palmatum 'Waterfall'

Acer palmatum 'Waterfall'

Japanese maple "Waterfall" I grow in a 1/2 barrel in a dark spot next to the deck.

The left side of the picture shows Viburnum x bodnantense pushing out flowers. Leaves are still on but will fall very soon.

I was having lunch at a good GC earlier today with my OH & decided to look at what Acers they were selling. The lovely fine weather suddenly turned into torrential rain. Seeing me shivering with cold, my lovely OH took off his jersey & insisted I put it on to keep warm. We then grabbed up one of the big umbrellas dotted about the GC for people to use, & ventured out into the uncovered area, giggling like children as we tried to stay dry. With a recently-herniated disc, my progress was none too quick! There were several different Acers on offer& the one I particularly like had a variegated leave ....pale pink with a deeper pink edging. We could see it, but we could not reach it to have a closer look & to see the price ....we walked around a couple of times trying to find a way to it, but couldn't. My OH was horrified by the prices of the ones close at hand ......all around NZ$70 plus. We had to buy a new door for our hall, so the Acer will have to wait a bit.

There is always next time Dwyllis. :-)
They are expensive here as well.

Hmmm, unfortunately they're expensive in the UK too. Your variegated-with-pink Acer sounds like 'Flamingo' Dwyllis: I've inherited one, but have yet to succeed with taking cuttings . . .
