colourful garden

i was sitting watching the footie the other day and happened to look out the window and to my surprise saw half a dozen people stood at the front gates pointing to certian area`s of the garden and well into chat, well to my surprise one of the old fellers rang my doorbell and got chatting so i felt obliged to go out and meet them all and forgot about the footie which was a load of rubbish anyway then my wife came out and joined in you see this is what gardening is all about, the sheer beauty and interest it gives to us and all that take the time to look at it,when i am in the garden people stop and chat which is brill but that means not a lot gets done sometimes ha ha, bye the way i even managed to sell 3 small cordyline palms to those people not bad eh !!!!
till later
tooodle ooooh

Well done you, perhaps you should have a little side line of selling plants, you could put a notice up. :~)

PLEASE! tell me that this isn't a recent pic of your front door. All those beautiful blooms. I makes me want to weep, I've so little in flower. Your right about the people stopping to chat when you're out in the garden. My OH thinks it highly amusing to suddenly appear telling me 'less chatting and more work, that's what I'm paying you for.' One of these days I won't be responsible for my actions.

I'm not surprised people stop and stare, its so full of bloom and so colourful. If that was taken this year, you've been dead lucky - our gardens here look for all the world as if its a damp October, very little in flower.

Poppylinda and i was out biking one day, stopped to have a look at a hedge of Camellia's in full flower and the lady came out ,she invited us round to view the back garden and we spent a very pleasant hour with her before getting back on our bikes :-))

Great side effect of gardening isn't it. I've not had many people stop and chat yet (but then I've worked on the back more than the front lol), but its been nice chatting to the neighbours. Gardens seem to be a great way of breaking the ice.

It might be last years photo, but that is one amazing garden.

A beautiful display..and I would happily stand gawping at your garden....I love chatting to some of the members who lean over the Bowling Green high wall,to see what is over the other side..which is part of my garden,,especially visiting teams, who have no idea it's there....met some lovely people..:o)

It just shows how much we are all suffering.
News is it should be better next week.
Plants will take time to recover.

Hope you have as lovely a display again this year, its a very colourful display and yes very eyecatching so I can see why people would comment, my front is mainly a carpark out of neccessity but I do like my two little borders and planters to look nice and provide a bit of a welcome, they are all planted up but sadly lacking in colour at the moment
Its quite weird here, not many people stop and chat unless one is cutting the hedge, then it takes an age because lots of people want to chat, lol..

I don't particularly like working in the front garden (feel like I'm being watched), but must admit the comments I get from passersby are all positive and certainly boost my pride in the garden. I also spot people stopping to look at the garden which gives me pleasure knowing that they are enjoying it as well. I have a few garden ornaments in the front garden, and living in SE London i am surprised they are still there! My theory is because the garden looks well cared for, people respect it.

Wow! g.g, you know whem you look thru the seed catalogue, all the pics look computer edited to me as the flowers seem too close and bushy to be natural, well, i believe theyre real now! i didnt realize they could get like that! i would be 1 of those people having a good gaup! well impressed! :o)

I am astounded and very, very impressed, GG. You could certainly sell me stuff from your garden - it looks so healthy and well cared-for. I'm not at all surprised you get passers-by stopping. Gardening is a wonderful (I was going to say pastime - but this looks as if it would take every minute of every day) hobby, and you're certainly going to get a lot of friends and admirers on this site. Congratulations on this display - straight into my "favourites" file. Looking forward to future pictures, too, although I suspect they'll make me feel very inadequate!
Waddy, I'd commit murder if my OH dared to say that to me in front of other people. Husband can rot down very satisfactorily to make a grand mulch! ;o)

Unfortunately, not everyone feels that way, though. You'll have to put up with an awful lot of silliness from some of us, GG. Hope you can cope and have a forgiving nature. You do sound like a man who can appreciate a few whacky comments from time to time, though.
