About this plant

Species: Beschoneria septentrionalis.

The red flower spike of the Beschoneria stands well against the leaves of a Gunnera and a large tree fern. The plant has rather hard, evergreen, leathery leaves, and may require winter protection from frost in certain areas.
It is an unusual plant, and can be used to create architectural interest..
Apparently, it can be seen growing on the Isles of Scilly.
