Fern: Ostrich Fern
Genus: Matteuccia.
Species: Matteuccia struthiopteris.
This is a very tall and hardy fern, also foudn wild here in Alaska. I have mine in a bit of a dry spot, and though it has a leaf or two each year, so far hasn't really expanded a whole lot. I did get male fronds last year, stiffer small fronds in the center of the plant, and that was encouraging. I don;t expect to lose it, but I do hope it does a little better tan it has been. Might move it this year.
