Eucalyptus Pauciflora
This eucalyptus is much slower to grow than gunnii and has all it's leaves at the top. It might get too tall, in which case I would prune it lightly at the top and see how it goes. I've planted the evergreen shrub behind it in case you lose it in a bad winter, but it made it through the last few.
