Species: Cornus mas.
my favourite tree. It flowers in March! with bright acid yellow flowers. It has masses of red fruits in the autumn and good red autumnal colour. The blackbirds love the fruit. It never gets too big, so is ideal for the garden. No fruits in 2013 as the late frosts destroyed the flowers. The bark is also attractive and flakes off as it gets older. It's the small tree growing at the back near the centre of the garden between the magnolia and the yellow berried cotoneaster.
