April ends

Well, April passes and we move into what has, so far, been a very pleasant start to May.

Herewith – a few more pics of various ‘bits’ of the garden.

Anemone de Caen

Pleased to see these flowering. This is the first time I have had any success with these anemone. Two or three times in previous garden they failed. Happy to report that there are further buds yet to open.

<>
Primula denticulata

Last year they flowered in spectacular fashion. This year they seem determined to outdo the show they put on. I DO like primula; All of them.

<>
Lion-Dog; Looking like a Pirate in this shot.. :)

I have no idea what the name of the camelia is. Both it and lion-dog were gifts (from different people) and no label came with the plant..

<>
Myosotis (Forget-me-not)

This is the first time I have had a white one. Various pink, mauve and blue have come and gone but never a delightful white as here. I let them go where they will, every garden should have them.

<>
Smilacina racemosa

Looking good and healthy. When it flowers I suspect that I will take further pictures. :)

<>
Pieris ?

Inherited this, so no idea of the name. No matter, a gem!

<>
Amelanchier laevis ‘Snowflakes’

My current favourite in the garden. Shown here against the background of the forest. A lovely, light scent can be discerned when passing. And the leaves are the most gorgeous colour. Beautiful tree.

<>
Beech (Fagus)

Fresh, young leaves turn the forest into a green heaven. Gone is the dullish brown of winter, new life returns.
We are blessed.

I had this problem with Anemones. Have now put them in a large planter where they can stay undisturbed. Seem to be ok so far.
The forest picture is really beautiful. So fresh and peaceful.

Well you have done better than me I have only had one anemone blanda flower this year ~ don`t laugh but its better than last year when none came up.

I'm so glad you feel blessed FC! I feel blooming freezing myself, but that's Scotland for you, and at least we do now have some colour and a hint of foliage on some of the shrubs and trees! Would be nice to step outdoors without shivering....hopefully soon! :) Lovely blog though!

Amelanchier has always been a fav of mine, its in flower in my garden and is spectacular this year, my anenome blanda's in my raised bed have done nothing so far this year, luckily I did plant a new one near the fishpond so all is not lost, the primula`s are the opposite and are grand, they obviously liked all the wet they got in the last year,lol....
Lovely photo's Fractual, we have had some smashing days in the last week but typically for the weekend, its been raining on/off all day, suns out at the moment but turned quite cold now....

All looking great - you have plenty going on. I've never heard of Smilacina before, off now to look it up.
Agree with Karen, the primula colour is gorgeous.

Anemone can be funny things. Did you plant your blanda as dry bulbs? I never had any success with them. Eventually I bought live plants and they romped away for years.

Karen - I trust the weather will warm up for you soon. It has been a long winter. And yes, the primula is a lovely colour. I think it is that first glimpse of fresh, new growth that makes gardeners.. garden. :)

Scottish - I can reccomend the smilacina. They are, I believe, related to Solomans Seal (Polygonatum); Similar in habit too. Lightly scented frothy flower heads as a bonus.

Lovely pics, especially the young beech leaves - no tree does it better, especially with English bluebells underneath...The white forget-me-nots are very unusual aren't they? So pretty with the blue ones. Its all so pretty.
