Michael's birthday...

I have to post this & go as it were…driving up to Wakefield early this morning to pick up a bike hubby has bought online….could he have got one any further away??!!

Just wanted to share Michael’s birthday today with you…do you think wherever he is he’s the same age as when he left us, another year older or there is no ‘age’ there? My niece died when she was just a few weeks old…I often wonder if she’s still a little baby or has grown to be a 30 something year old…one of the great mysteries of life.

Michael loved the band Big Country, had a passion for Ginster’s pasties & used to carry his Snoopy around with him when he was a little boy…

http://media.growsonyou.com/photos/blog_photo/image/21674/main/snoopy_014.jpg!
The Tshirt we had made up when we went to a gig in honour of Big Country, The Jam & a Scottish band called the Silencers…I went with Mikey’s photo on the shirt as he had never been to a Big Country gig & would have given anything to have been there. I even got 2 feet away from Bruce Foxton of the Jam…sorry to those who don’t know who I’m banging on about but suffice to say he was still dressed in black & still gorgeous!

The keyboard player from Big Country dedicated a song to Michael at my request…the one we played at his funeral called ‘Chance’. Can you imagine how that made me feel? So pleased I could do that for my boy.

Michael was also a big fan of ‘Only Fools & Horses’ & Eddie Stobart lorries so you can imagine his delight when he found a 3 – wheeler in Eddie’s colours!
Camper vans were a favourite of his too & he always hoped to own one some day…he had so many interests.

In the door pocket of my car I keep Danger Mouse to look after me & a little Michael teddy! Danger Mouse was Michael’s along with Rhubarb & Custard (remember them?!) & Zippy & George from Rainbow…these were given to his friends & sister as a keepsake. Oh & Roland Rat too…haven’t seen him for a while!!

Tonight, after I’ve sorted my Mum, I’m going to put a heather by the telegraph pole & I’ve bought some pink flowering bulbs for next year to plant at his grave to make him laugh!

I hope you don’t mind me sharing these personal things with you all…I asked Michael’s photo & he just grinned right back at me so I know he’d be ok with it.

Happy Birthday Michael…don’t drink all the Fosters!xxx

Oh, bless.......Happy Birthday you lovely lad. xx

I have always believed that you are ageless in heaven.
I don't know anything about Big Country or Ginsters although the pasty sounds lovely. I do know Snoopy and I remember when 3 wheelers were on the roads. As for Wakefield......that's where I come from. I don't know Danger Mouse or Rhubarb and Custard (except the eating kind) but I do know you have more than them to look after you in the car. I'm sure Michael is there looking after you as well. He sounds to have been a lovely young man, Fluff. I bet he is up in heaven having a wonderful time and having a good chuckle at you and your pink bulbs. LOL.

Take care Fluff. Say 'Hi' to Michael and Wakefield for me. xx

"Happy Birthday Michael "I find comfort in beliving that the spirt of a loved one joins us here and helps to make us stronger with the extra love and guidence they bring to us, may sound silly but it helps me to cope with whatever life throws at me.

Happy Birthday big Mikey,
I think those on the other side can grow or stay as they are, it's up to them. Without a 'body' to lug around they are free to appear how they wan't to. I know when my time comes then I will recognize my loved ones that have gone before me.
I bet he howls with laughter at all these little funnies you keep doing for him and the best thing of all is that you always include him in what you do, this way he will always be there for you.
You are one special lady Fluff, thank you for including us in your celabration of his birthday.
Big hugs to you as well. x x x

Happy Birthday Michael.
I agree with all of the above and when you suddenly smile or giggle at a thought popping into your head out of the blue I believe it is the ones we love laughing and smiling with us.
Have a lovely day

Hello Fluff, and Happy Birthday Michael. Your friends are all thinking of you today especially today.
I believe that people don't age over there and are always remembered as they were, so stay that way and are with us a lot of the time, that is when they are not joining in Gigs! Michael has obviously left you with so many happy shared memories and your wonderful relationship lives on.
No relationship could possibly be closer than that between Mother and child. Your's was obviously very special to both of you.

Happy Birthday Michael and cheers. Hello Fluff I thnk heaven has no aging and no suffering, When God has a space he picks someone it just seems so unfair to us but he has his reasons? Hard day for you all today take care.

Thank you so much all of you...for all the nice things you have said...I always imagine Michael as he was...I think that's the best way.
Hywel, Swanky & Ian...what you say makes so much sense...thanks for that. It's nice to hear how other people imagine things. I like to include him Ian...that's one reason why I blogged Michael's Patch... as he is in my thoughts constantly I can mention him & you all know him now.
Pipsqueak...it would be great if when we giggle at something it's because they are too!
Thank you Lily ... I'm certain Michael would think us ridiculous for going on a 500 mile round trip to Yorkshire for a bike on his birthday!
Shamrock he never went to Scarborough...but he did watch the 'dudes' down in Devon in their campers!
Hi Mad & Denise...he was very special & it has been a tearful day so maybe the car ride up thru' the counties gave us something else to think about.
Gilli...hello! Just got back from Wakefield..took 8 hours with 2 stops...quick blog going on later. I posted this one this morning at 5 a.m....you must have been still up! I'm always chatting to Danger Mouse in my car...probably seen by other drivers as a mad woman talking to herself!
Thanks all...hope you had a good day.xx

Wonderful blog, Fluff, I feel as if I know Michael and know I would have liked him. Go on talking about him as much as you want because he is part of you and always will be. Fosters isn't my drink but I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying Happy Birthday with half a pint of bitter shandy? I've done it anyway! God bless.

It IS a special day - and you are so right to remember him and to talk about him with love and pride. Our loved ones live on when they are remembered, don't they!

Don't cry any more today - we are all thinking of you and your lovely and loving son. Smile and celebrate his life. I won't say 'Be brave' - you already are, Fluff! :-)) xxxx

A day of mixed feelings for you Fluff and one very long journey. Hope its a good bike and pleased you had a safe trip, you must be tired tho. your Michael is always going to be with you and its nice that you feel able to share your special days with us..........

4 Oct, 2009

Thank you Gee...he'd love that ...he once tried to buy a can of shandy at our local shop at 13 years old & was refused as it had beer in it! 0.3% beer!! He was so mad!
Spritz...he always smiles at me from his pictures so I don't cry too hard...not these days anyway...you get to the 'shake yourself & be strong' bit after 5 years. Thank you for your thoughts.
It was a long journey Sue! I didn't do any driving so hubby is shattered but he has tomorrow off to recover. Glad none of you mind me sharing...you have no idea how lovely that is.xx

Happy Belated Birthday Michael, you share it with my Mum and an old friend of mine!

You write a moving blog, Fluff.

From my experiences, I would say Michael is the age he was, but free of any hurt or pain he experienced. x

5 Oct, 2009

Is that right Morgana...about the pink in Victorian times? I never knew that...oh well that settles it...pink it is!! Cheers!

Thank you Potty...Happy Birthday to your Mum & friend too wherever they are...I like to think as you say that Mikey is still a happy, fun-loving lad with a pasty in one hand & a Fosters in the other...I do hope he's free of any earthly traumas...he was a sensitive lad.

5 Oct, 2009

That is true about the pink yes in victorian times. I watched a victorian program ages ago and they said pink was invented for to dress boys in.

5 Oct, 2009

I've heard that blue for boys was because blue was the cheapest dye in those days & boys tended to go thru' more clothes than girls but didn't know the pink thing...thanks Morgana.

5 Oct, 2009

Your welcome Fluff:o)))
