Last year I had a good show of these lovely flowers … many of whom I got from a local plant sale for a few pence so they are extra welcome!

This year they have gone mad … mad I tell you!!

These are 2 of the bigger separate clumps…

This is the very first one out … I think Bigbumblebee called it ‘Kwanso’ …

This one is a new plant I got from the same source & I’m not sure why it’s not a double like the other … do they gain ‘Doubleness’ with maturity? Like a size DD bra cup?!! Or maybe of course it’s an entirely different one! Actually … it has got white lines along the petals so maybe someone could name it for me?

And this lovely fellow is one of the plants BigBumbleBee sent me so very kindly last year … the photo doesn’t do it justice … it’s a gorgeous buttermilk yellow … & I can’t remember the name!

They are such a big feature in the garden … probably the most exciting plant to see coming into bloom! Love ’em! :o))

Next day now & they are all coming out!

With lots of buds!

Beautiful flowers Fluff.Ive never grown these, and would love some, but am I right in thinking they take up a lot of space?

Thanks Elsiemay ... they won't be long with all this sunshine!

Hi Bloomer & thank you ... yes they have taken up quite a bit of room. I think I should have separated some off & re-planted them ... maybe next year! They've smothered a sedum next to them so I'll have to do something drastic!
I have heavy clay soil & they love it!

Oh Fluff, the two orange ones are absolutely gorgeous.........if you ever find out their names I'd love to know ~ they are definitely a favourite.

I know they grow very big. That's why I didn't bring any with me from the old house when I moved. They are nice, but big lol

Thanks Dotty ... they have all come out today ... well one on each stem anyway! Have added some pics from today ...

Hi Mandy ... thank you ... get them from a local source if you can ... they are usually much cheaper than the GCs & are proven to grow in your local soil.

Silverbelle I've found Bigbumblebees pms to me & she says the double one is called Kwanso. An odd name but there it is! I must say it's very hard to identify the orange ones ... they are all very similar.

Blimey, they are stunning. All my Asiatics have ben eaten by the dreaded Red Lily Beetle:o(

Maybe a couple of years and I'll try again.

These are really impressive though and great pics.

Aw thanks OB ... no beetly things here thank goodness! Once you've got them are they hard to get rid of?

Hi David & thank you ... haven't got to water them tonight as it rained all day. Hooray!

Evening Hywel ... I'm glad I have them but like you say they can get too big! They're my kind of plant tho' as they don't need any special care ... just holding back! ;O)

Good news re the watering, Fluff!. I used to grow daylilies, but now, just don't have the space to keep them, so have to be content looking at others', like yours. :-)

Thanks Fluff, I'll keep a look out for some..... they're lovely.

I've been told to just get rid of the lillies and don't have any back for a couple of years! JOY!

Noooooo! They are so prolific ... to the point of bullying I know but I guess you just have to 'manage' them! They are the only flower that I have 'in bulk' so to speak & give a lovely bank of colour. I is keeping my babies!

My other one hasn't flowered so I'm going to move it for next year Linclass ... I think it got smothered a bit where it is.

So gorgeous.......!!!

Day lillies are a favourite of mine too but I've onlt got one orange variety. I love the pale yellow one. I must buy some more. One of the plant catalogs that comes free with newspapers was recently offering 18 different ones varying in colour from a deep red to light yelow through pink and orange for £12 which sounds like a bargain to me.
