A little lost in Somerset........
Hello my fellow Goyers, I wanted to share with you, a magical day we experienced on Thursday 03rd June 2010, when we bundled ourselves into the car, and set out to see Spritzhenry’s garden at her NGS Open Day…..
Full of pioneering spirit, we headed towards Somerset, and did really well till we got lost in Bridgewater! (Why is it men hate to ask for directions?). We did find a very nice Morrisons, but Spritzhenry’s place it was not, and after a bit of tooing and fro-ing, we eventually found ourselves outside our destination, in a very rural, outstandingly beautiful village.Once parked, we made our way in, being met by some wonderful, friendly locals, and of course, our hosts for the day, Spritz and OH, and the one with the warm wet nose, and soulful eyes, guardian of the portal, Henry, the most friendliest, handsomest Labrador you could ever wish to meet!
Once he had checked us over, and given us his lick of approval, we entered what I can only describe as a little slice of heaven………..
Would you care to come with me as I walk you through Spritz’s garden……
The sun was shining, there was a gentle breeze, and tea and cake available, supplied by the W.I, and lots of seating areas……..
Gently winding pathways lead you into various garden rooms, each with overflowing borders and spectacular flowering planting……….
I couldn’t resist getting in close to these beauties………..
These caught my eye too……..
The sound of a gently flowing stream was music to the ears……..
And so our day in horticultural heaven drew to a close…..Spritz and OH, couldn’t have been nicer hosts, the Open Day seemed a great success, and with our senses filled, we left our wonderful hosts to relax and look back on a truly memorable day…….Would we go again? Without a doubt!!!
