Raffles in Trouble !

I do wish Raffles wouldn’t fight, or at least if he must – pick on someone he can beat!
Two days ago he limped in for his breakfast, I couldn’t catch him to take a look, but thought it wasn’t too bad if he could run away. Wrong !! Yesterday he hopped in on three legs and the bad one was visibly swollen.
Once I caught him and got him into a box it was off to the vet (he is used to my rescues). Raffles came out spitting and swearing (such language for a four year old) It was decided quite quickly to sedate him! As expected a very nasty bite which had of course caused an abcess. I came out of the vet, considerably poorer and with Raffy ‘out cold’
The 2 hours predicted recovery time was in fact just over an hour. Despite all my efforts I couldn’t keep him in ( I have the lacerations to prove it) He staggered off, still full of anesthetic and disappeared. for almost 11 hours.
It was a sleepless night for us both as we kept looking for him. Finally I looked out of the window at 6.45 this morning and there he was asleep on a chair on the terrace.
I suppose although we regard him as a pet his ‘feral’ instincts came to the fore. In the end, thank goodness, his tummy won and he came back for breakfast.
Back to normal now, limping still but looking better.
Cats – who’d have them ?

Hi Chris....
I hope Raffles will be okay.
Sounds like he will bounce back :o)
At the moment the last paragraphs on your blog look crossed out. If you edit your blog and remove hyphens before and after that part e.g. not -Fenclare-, but change it to just Fenclare
then the crossings out will disappear.
Message me if any problems ! xxx

Thanks TT, I've edited my blog and it looks OK now. I'm sure Raffy will be fine (he's sunbathing currently)

I have no idea why they fight Louise, unless an entire Tom has turned up from outside. I am sure his war wounds will heal quicker than 'mine' and certainly before my pocket recovers!

Raffy doesn't like the door being closed when he's in, but his sister Jade (who is much wilder) gets really distressed. She does come in to eat but will run for the door if you even try to walk past her. I don't suppose after nearly 4 years that she will improve much if at all.

Hiya Chris, pleased Raffles is ok now, we have four cats here and they do have their moments sometimes, the worst is our Harry the big white fluffy tomcat,he is sporting a rather large gash on one of his legs today, when indoors he`s the laziest but he definitely guards his territory and gets into lots of scraps, luckily for me he will let me treat him tho........

Hey Chris...Raffles is a good name for him then...he was a bit of a lad & always getting into scrapes! Bless him...glad he came back safely.

Thanks all - Raffy is on the mend now (although he will still limp if he sees me looking).
As for treating him Lincslass - I can pick him up, but as far as giving tablets..... I value my hands a bit too much :-)
Has he learnt his lesson from this scrape? I doubt it somehow.
