Moderate size garden on sloping site facing south in suburb of Glasgow.
Have a pond with small waterfalll and grow mainly perenials ,bulbs and shrubs

Tried vegetables this year - mixed success Used large plastic pots since little free area for planting.
Garden surrounded by large trees and ponticums- serious problems with invasive roots on any cleared plots
Have mainly used large containers to avoid this - mixed success with crops.
Advice about root barrier systems would be welcome
