As I’ve said many times, ours is a Spring garden. For the rest of the year we depend on container plants and Acers and trees to add some colour.

We do have a few visitors that add interest in their own way!

Super photos Eirlys! Lovely to have a Jay too. We see them very occasionally but mostly they stay in the woodland down the hill.
Isn't it funny how the shape of baby birds' beaks makes them look grumpy!

Beautiful photos, so clear and sharp.

Ours too is a spring garden and even though there is some autumn colour in it, it needs a lot more.

' I must try harder!!'

Other Half took these. I have a Panasonic Lumix camera but not keen on it, Loved my little Casio. Have bought two of the latter on eBay but not so sharp! Now have placed the Panasonic somewhere in the house; don't know where! OH says "Get another camera, for Goodness' sake!" Think he's right!

(Apologies for going off tangent.)

What lovely visitors to your garden and to have a jay come onto the feeder ! I get the occasional jay but only for a fleeting moment .

Lovely photo's, so well done OH. To have a Jay in the garden is lovely, OK we know they are predators on other birds nests, but so are the Magpies, Rooks, Crows and such like. Everything predates something else, have pity for the caterpillars that might have turned to beautiful butterflies and instead fed some baby Bluetits!
Find the camera again and have a practice with it. My OH bought me a Sony Bridge camera which frightened the life out of me, too many buttons, too much technical info and I still don't know how to do half the stuff on it, but I do manage to take some photo's which mostly come out OK. Perseverance on my part is needed, but can you really teach an old dog new tricks?

I have a Panasonic Lumix too and haven't got to grips with it at all. I have just found out how to turn the wheel in front for closer shots. I'm beginning to think a point and click would have done just as well...

What puts me off is the lack of a paper manual. the on line one is too long to print off and I feel too old to learn it all by heart...

kidsgran: They are beautiful. Sad event here once. A jay crashed against the garage door and was instantly killed. A close-up view I didn't want.

Honeysuckle: OH has a Canon and I am not a bit interested in it though it does take better images than mine. My very first digital was a Fuji and I should have gone for another instead of the Panasonic. Took some lovely images with the Fuji!

Steragram: Know what you mean. I have printed off the "bits" I think I will use. Problem now is, finding my camera!!

Glad you like them, Callie. The bird table continues to be an attraction.

As with the others, what lovely photos. We had a Jay come into our garden every day in early summer but then suddenly stopped. Hope he is alright and just found a better place to visit. The other week we also saw our 1st squirrel, was only a youngest. 1st one we had seen in the garden since we moved in. Where I used to work in Tonbridge, used to see a white one. Never seen one like that before. This garden too was very much a spring garden but I am trying hard to make it more all year round. It's easier for me as I had to clear so much out, that I've got the space to think about what to plant. Being on here gives me ideas :-).

Great photos Eirlys. We have two feeding points in our garden. We can watch from our windows but I never quite manage to take a photo of the antics that happen around the feeders.

Jen: At my family home, a long time ago, we had a white blackbird!! The other birds used to mob it so we made sure it was well fed.

The squirrels have not been around lately which is a pity as I picked a lot of hazelnuts for them. Still it's early days.

Too late to change our garden now. It's too well-established and we are too old!

Linda: Most of the above images were taken through our window. OH took some of the nuthatch the other day but hasn't checked them. One kept picking up seed and flying off with it. Did this time and again as if it was feeding young. Can't be this time of year. Very odd!

lovely photos and such a happy wildlife garden.

some birds store food for the winter I wonder if that is what the nuthatch is doing.

I didn't know that, Seaburngirl! Know nothing about the Nuthatch except that it looks like a wren with that beak-tilted look.

Super photos, especially the Jay......it is so difficult to get decent pics, we had a blackbird sharing a bath with two bluetits, all I could do was sit still and watch, would have made a wonderful photograph!!

DottyDaisy: Lots of birds visiting our feeder table these days. The Robin and the Blackbird are the bullies ; the others seem to tolerate one another.

Notice the holly berries have nearly all vanished : eaten by two blackbirds while they were there.

The trouble is one sees a great photo but the camera isn't to hand. Have twice missed opportunities for videos that could have been sent to Harry Hill.
