Our new plant

It has always been a joke in our house that, although I am not the gardener, I am the one who finds the plant that is different at the garden centre. I have the odd knack of being able to spot the one plant that floors the so-called expert!
I am sure you will ALL recognise our new plant!!
I found it at Hilliers Garden Centre and my other half had to read the label to find out what it was! It’s
Sinocalycalycanthus raulstonii ‘Hartlage Wine’
and I fell for it as soon as I saw it.
What do you think of it?

I wrote a blog on this plant in June 2010 ('When East Meets West') after seeing it on a stand at the Chelsea Flower Show that year.

Stera - it might help to know it's a cross between a sinocalycanthus, and a calycanthus. Hence the name!

Oh great - I hadn't heard of either of them, but do love the name, it just rolls off the tongue! I would have thought it was a clematis if you hadn't said.
