Tulipa San Marino

After doing some research I found these are one of the Tulips known as ‘Broken Tulips’ which were once valued but now no longer popular. The odd pattern is on a background of Red, Yellow or White and is caused by a virus. Hard to find, examples are ‘San Marino’ (pictured), ‘Insulinde’ violet/yellow and ‘Cordell Hull’ red/white.
Short Tulips are more popular dont need staking but even after the torrential rain and wind over the last few days mine are still standing proud at 28 and 30 inches.

Fabulous colours there drc, I find that so long as they (Dafs too) are not near a wall/fence, they seem to withstand all but the most severe wind. Isn't nature clever, something to do with aerodynamics.

I think they are beautiful. I can't understand why they would have become unpopular.
